Bed time for (almost) 8 mth old
Hey everyone!
My DS has had an 8pm bed time for a few months now... even during the weeks immediately after the storm (when we were sleeping in a different house every night), he would be asleep by 8. He would have oatmeal and some kind of fruit or veggie at 7pm, then have his bottle around 730/745 and he would be out by 8/815 the latest.
All of a sudden in the past week and a half, it has been so much harder to get him to sleep and he hasn't gone down until 9pm. Literally for over an hour I will sit with him in the glider and he is all smiley and wide awake and jumpy like he wants to play and then finally at like 845 he starts to get sleepy and is out by 9.
Is 9pm too late of a bed time for an 8mth old?? Any advice or recommendations? Is this some kind of a phase?
Sorry this is kinda long... TIA!

DD was the same way. She was going to bed every night at 7:30 p.m. and all of a sudden at around 8 months, it stopped. I blame it on teething. And I don't think 9:00 p.m. is too late of a bedtime. DD is almost 9 months now, and I pray some nights she'll fall asleep at 9:00 p.m.

My DS has been going to bed between 830 and 9 since he was born....and he is an early riser due to our schedules. I never force my DS to go to bed if he isn't tired....not worth the battle IMO. I would just roll with if for a bit and see what happens.

Re: Bed time for (almost) 8 mth old
I was thinking last night about this. Ds is 9 m and we usually start night routine at 9 and he is out by 10. Last night at 9 he had sooooooo much energy we were chasing him around for an hour. And its not like he sleeps a lot during the day either. Maybe 30 min here and there and maybe a one hour nap if lucky. But if he is asleep by ten he usually sleeps to 7 so it is what it is. I can't compare my kid to anyone elses. Sometimes I am jealous when I hear of babies sleeping 7pm to 7 am but I don't think that's in the cards for us. As long as ur dc is happy imo its all good! Xo

same thing with my dd. If i start her routine before 9 she wakes up too early like 4am. My dd doesnt.do the 12 hour stretch of sleep. But i thought that stretch of sleep isnt until they are like a year old. My dd schedule is like above.

Bed time for (almost) 8 mth old
DD is 9 months and her bedtime has moved a few times in the last few months. She went to bed around 8 for a long time when she was younger. She was crabby and tired from about 6:30 on but wouldn't go to sleep a minute before 8. Then she finally moved bedtime up to 7. At Christmas, we were out and about a lot and it ended up pushed back to 8 again. She sleeps till around 7:30 so either way I think she's fine.
Between Christmas and cutting 3 or 4 new teeth, bedtime has never been the same. She used to go down sooo easy and now it varies. Some nights she falls asleep nursing (never used to), some nights she goes down awake fine, and some nights she's tired but then after we get her ready for bed and I feed her she suddenly gets all hyper and is ready to chat and play. Those nights I usually just give up and try to put her to bed anyway, she cries for a few minutes, and then I get her and nurse her again and she finally calms down and goes to bed.

Every baby is different - DS 1 went to bed at that age between 8:30 and 9 and I was lucky to get DS 2 to stay up until 7:30 (and still am at 10 months - and it's a challenge when sometimes I don't get home with him from daycare until 6:45 and he has to eat and take a bath).
As long as they seem to be getting enough sleep and it works for your schedule, it's fine!

DS always went to sleep around 9-10. He takes a late nap so if I try to put him down early he won't have any part of it. I think it's fine if your DC goes down at 9. just follow their cues.
