BCP ?- can someone help a newbie?
DH and I aren't ready to TTC yet, but we definitely want children. I've been on BCP for ten years. Anyone know if long-term BCP usage affects fertility?

Everyone is different... you could get pregnant the first month after coming off of BCP... it may also take a couple of months for your cycle to regulate itself... you never know until you try.
I hope this helps you in some way... I know that it doesn't give an exact answer, but unfortunately, such is the nature of TTC... the only exact thing there is in TTC is a BFP on a HPT or the arrival of AF!

I am still not ready and have been on the pill for 12 years
I spoke to my Doctor and recommended that as soon as I am ready- I just go off the pill
I told her wanted to go off a year early- and she said in her experince people have an easier time getting prego immediately after going off the pill
so I am taking her advice
and I will take it from there

I was on the pill more than 10 years went off and got PG 3 months later on my first try. 1 year after that I got on the first try again with my second. So no issues for me

i was on the pill for 12 years total and started ovulating the month after I came off of it.
everyone is different. a close friend didn't ovulate for 8 months after going off of her pill.
i did see my doc earlier this week and she told me that most pills are a-okay for ovulating pretty quickly, but one specific one, depo-vera, she PERSONALLY didn't like. that was just HER opinion though...

I was on the pill for 13 years and she recommended going off about 6 months before I wanted to start trying because it weakens the lining of your uterus. She said it does not affect fertility, but it could be a problem carrying the baby to term.

My doctor said we could start TTC as soon as I went off the pill. I was on the pill for 9 years. I got pregnant the first month after I stopped taking them. I'm 22 weeks now and so far, everything is going well.
