Bathroom quote - talk about excessive !!!!!

We are redoing 2 bathrooms.

One of the guys that was recommended to us, called back DH today. Without even looking at our house he told us for labor ONLY. $5K for a tiny shower bathroom upstairs and $8K for our small 5x8 bathroom downstairs with a tub.

Are you kidding me?? $8K for labor only for a 5x8 bathroom?

That's not even a big name company. The guy works by himself.

The person who recommend him told me he charged her $5K for the same bathroom size (she has a Levitt house too) AND make a closet for her.

I think not.. moving right along!!!! Next!!!

Definitely check around. Our bathroom is about that size, maybe a little smaller, and some of the quotes we got were just crazy. One guy quoted us $7000, while the guy we ended up using did the same work for $3500. I have no idea what the difference was or why the first guy was so expensive. I'd definitely get some more quotes.

I just asked this man who does this stuff for a living and he said the 5x8 would be roughly $3500 in labor only. Unless you needed some plumbing work and/or floor to ceiling tiling (tile half way up the wall and in the shower is included).

look around...get recommendations, we got quotes for ours its about 7x8, complete gut, but eveyrthing is staying in the same spot, we got quotes from $4500-7,500...that was labor, sheet rock, outlets, etc. but not the fixtures, tiles vanity, etc
