I just saw your post on LIW - food there is pretty pricey (I only ate in the St. Lawrence Gap area). I would budget for what you would pay for a nice dinner in NY or on LI.

I would bring clse to $1,000 if you plan on paying for everything in cash. Otherwise, you can maybe alf that and charge where you can.

I wouldn't bring a ton of cash. This isn't the dark ages! Hit an ATM when you get there and use credit cards when you can. Not to mention, I wouldn't feel comfortable traveling anywhere with that much money on me.
