baptism guest list question - DH's boss

We are planning a very small baptism for DD, immediate family, grandparents, DH & my aunts & uncles and very limited first cousins. We weren't really planning on having friends, so maybe 35-40 total.

DH is an attorney. He works for 3 partners. We went to law school with a wife of one of the partners (acquaitance, though I wouldn't say friends). She is very familiar with the neighborhood where we want to have the baptism party, so DH asked the partner to ask his wife for good restaurant.

The partner says "absolutely, we would love to come! "

DH drops the subject hoping the partner will forget.

Wife emails us a restaurant suggestion and he brings is up again - "so, when is the baptism?"

Now, we feel like we have to invite them. However, if we invite this one partner and his wife, we also have to invite his 2 other partners and their spouses, as well as 3 other lawyers in his group.

Uuuggghhhh. WWYD?

Eek I hate situations like that...I would just be honest and say we are having it sometime in ____ I am keeping it very intimate with just immediate family.

ALmost the same thing happened with my DH's boss.

I went to go pick him up one day from work and she saw the baby and sid "oh DH told me you had the baptism, why didnt you guys invite me? I wanted to come"

I was FROZEN, but then just blurted out "we had such a small party, basically my family only"

We high tailed it outta there! LOL

I'd invite them all and hope they don't show. haha

If they do, well.. whatcha gonna do?
