Bakers, come on in!!
I am going to attempt to make a LARGE cupcake cake for DD's first birthday. I dabble in baking, but this is definitely something I have NEVER done before. Has anyone made one before? Any advice?
Also, I think I want to make my own frosting. Does anyone have a yummy and simple recipe?
Here are the cakes I'm looking at....

Re: Bakers, come on in!!
Super cute!!!
Here is a simple buttercream recipe. I haven't made it in a long time, so I looked on all recipes. Looks pretty foolproof.
Ingredients
* 1 cup butter (no substitutes), softened * 8 cups confectioners' sugar * 2 teaspoons vanilla extract * 1/2 cup milk
Directions
1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter. Beat in sugar and vanilla. Add milk until frosting reaches desired consistency.

I made my Godson his 1st B-day cake. Advice: read the directions, they talk about how much batter to put so it can cook evenly.
Enjoy!!!

Re: Bakers, come on in!!
My sister and I just attempted this and it was not easy. The cake ended up sticking to the pan horribly (we have the Wilton pan).
You have to really measure. It was an odd amount, not quite two packages of cake mix.
I would give yourself time incase it takes more then one try.
Good Luck!

I just bought this pan for DD's birthday and am going to be making it soon...I found some good tips for getting it to turn out right in the reviews on Amazon.com.

Re: Bakers, come on in!!
I made this cake for my nieces birthday and it came out great. It didnt stick to the pan at all. Just make sure you read the directions, it will tell you how long to bake it for and how to greese the pan. It was super easy to make. I also make my own butter cream and this is what I use. 3/4 cup LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened 6 cups powdered sugar 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup LAND O LAKES™ Half & Half 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
Beat butter in large bowl at medium speed until creamy.
Gradually add powdered sugar and salt alternately with half & half and vanilla, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Stir in corn syrup.
I can post a pic of it late when i get home.
