Back on dairy

DD was dx with a milk protein allergy when she was only a few weeks old, and was on a prescription formula. At 12 mos., the GI doctor had us reintroduce dairy. She has been having dairy in her diet (milk bottles, yogurt, cheese) now for one month. All seems well but her poops have decreased from 2-3/day to one every day or two. And she is painfully cranky until she poops.

Is dairy naturally constipating in some? Or is this a sign that she is not over the allergy? I will also contact my GI doctor but I love your advise....

Back on dairy

DD has a similar history (she's now 2.5).

If she has too much dairy she does get a bit constipated. I try and limit as best I can, but she LOVES her dairy.

She typically has 1 BM every day/every other day. 2-3 BMs/day seems like a lot for her age, but that could just be to me.

She could just need time to adjust. I would just make sure she is getting enough hydration (water, juice etc).

Good luck!

Back on dairy

My dd did not have an allergy but had issues with digestion. Shes on almond milk but does well with yogurt and cheeses.

If she has too much dairy she will get diarrhea so we limit it.
If she has too much almond milk she gets painfully constipated.

It could possibly be that shes just getting too much dairy in 1 day.
