I completely understand!
I just got back to work this morning from vacation and I know what you mean. I was happy to be in my own bed, make my own meals (as crazy as that sounds!), etc. But being back HERE, just urgg
We were in south carolina and while I couldnt see myself living there either, I actually appreciated the pace, loved the hospitality, loved who clean everything was.
you come back here, and it's dirty and the people are nasty, the light turns yellow and they are honking at you to drive 100 through it!
I would move to the south in a heartbeat

I hate coming back to the insanity of my day to day life - the minitue by minute schedule of alarm, shower, train, kids to school, conf calls, meetings, deadlines - rush for a train, rush to get the kids, rush to games/practice, rush re: homework, rush for dinner (CRAP what IS FOR DINNER?)
Remembering 500 different things and places to be and things to do -
Oh, and laundry and cleaning the house and and and ............
The only thing I DO love, is stepping out of Penn station after a long time away and onto the streets of Manhattan .......but I LOVE the city.
We were just in Lake George, in a log cabin on the lake for a week ........it was SO relaxing, so laid back, so ........not insane.
I was seriously depressed coming back home.

Back from vacation sadness
I live in Manhattan and absolutely love it. I love going on vacation but love coming home even more. I grew up on LI but don't miss it. The only place that I've been that I've thought I could actually live besides NYC was Arizona, strangely enough. But we have no plans to ever move.
