Back from PUNTA CANA EXCELLENCE Resort!!!
We've only been home for a few hours - ther weather in NY delayed our flight from arriving at Punta Cana airport this afternoon, so we were even later getting home.
Besides that, the vacation was AMAZING! It only rained at night, it was open blue skies (barely any clouds), sunny, warm and humid! The beach was very fine white sand and the pools were perfect to cool you down. The choice of restaurants (including food) was tough to choose. We didn't want to leave today! I'll provide a full review soon and post some photos!
Thank you to all of you who helped me plan for this trip - offering me advice and insight on the resort and the country itself!
For those going, you pay $10 pp when you land, you get a ticket, you hand the ticket in about 45 seconds later at immigration/customs. The only form you submit when leaving DR is the immigration form declaring your reasons for being in the country.
Only european/canadian travelers have to pay $20pp when you depart the country.

We did a junior suite and no package that I am aware of. It's all inclusive, so the cost you pay includes all beer/liquor and food the entire time you are at the resort, plus the gratuities for resort, transfers to the airport and resort, etc.
The room was huge - balcony w/jacuzzi and full bathroom w/king bed, desk, chair and couch, plus tv.

We had the same except a balcony since we were on the 1st floor. We had a small patio with a hammock
We also had a stocked mini fridge with beer, soda and water and cookies and crackers everyday.

We went here for our anniversary trip.
We loved it and would def recommend. A few things I want to point out for those of you going to this resort:
- It is far from the airport, a solid hour. It wasn't a problem for us, but if you didn't know that, I could see it being a problem
- We found the more simple type food to be outstanding - grilled chicken, steaks, etc. A lot of the more prepared things were not good. We quickly learned at breakfast that there is a station with fresh made eggs, pancakes, etc. All outstanding! Also, every night they have a grill with chicken, burgers, etc. DH made a 4th meal out of it - but also good if you don't love your dinner, just eat the grilled food, it was one of the best burgers ever!
- Ride the horses - they are free! it was fun and something we have never done before
relax and enjoy, we had a great time!!!
