babyshower ???
Since my sister lives sooo far away in HAwaii and my mom and mil are always busy I am planning my own shower, which they are paying for I just have to let them know how much,.. so i called around today and the prices are out of control for a Sunday afternoon, (only time my sister can fly in) so is it chessy to have it at my house? the cateriing is only 300 for italian and then i figured 2 heros and cake coffee, etc.... I mean I am going to be 35 weeks when I have this shower, and really not wanting to be bothered, so I though here would be good bc then everything is here and we just have to load it into her room.... What do you girls think? and it is about 45-50 people...........

Re: babyshower ???
if the house is big enough, i don't see a problem with it. It's more comfortable sometimes that way

Re: babyshower ???
Why not? I think it would be fine as long as you could host that many people (wow, that is a lot of people!)
My SIL did the same thing as you, she had me as the host of her shower, but she did all of the work herself b/c she live in Baltimore.

So, that would work out. I would of done that esp if it was summer. Like the good ol days when showers were in the house and not at fancy places.

Personally I really like showers in houses, so much more comfortable! Mine will be in my parent's apartment building common room, but if they still lived in my childhood home, I am sure it would be in my house.

Re: babyshower ???
My mom hosted my baby shower at her house. I liked it bc we weren't bound by time at a restauant. I was able to hang out and really talk to guests since I don't see family very often.

Re: babyshower ???
House showers are nice, i think they are good for small showers. if you think everyon can fit comfortably and have room to sit and eat and stuff, then go for it.

Re: babyshower ???
If there's enough room in the house, I say go for it -- sounds like it will ultimately be more fun and more convenient for you.

Re: babyshower ???
I say do it. I would only suggest that you hire waitresses for the set up, food and clean up. You don't want to be claening at your own shower.

Re: babyshower ???
It's so funny- I think NY is the only place where people regularly have baby showers at restaurants/catering halls.
Every shower I've ever been to have been held at someone's house.

Re: babyshower ???
I like showers at homes - and if you have the room, why not? plus you wont have to pack all the gifts up in a car and take them home - you're already there!

Re: babyshower ???
I like showers at home too - it is more relaxed and there are no set hours as they won't be kicking people out so people can relax and visit.

Re: babyshower ???
I had my shower at my MIL house. It was around Christmas and she had it decorated beautifully. I agree if the house has enough space go for it!
