Baby's sleep routine still off after Sandy?
Riley has always been a great sleeper. At 5 weeks she was sleeping straight through the night. We were also always able to lay her down with the pacifier awake and she'd fall esleep within a few minutes on her own.
The past month or so her sleep has been very "off." Before the hurricane she had Coxsackie so that definately threw things off quite a bit. Then during Hurricane Sandy we were without power for 2 weeks and so we all slept together in the livingroom, the one room we had heat. Immediately following getting our power back I ended up taking her to the Dr because she was sick again, this time with a bad sinus infection.
She's been feeling better for about a week now but her sleep is still off. She isn't falling esleep on her own anymore. She either falls esleep drinking her last bottle or I have to lay down with her to get her to pass out becasue she just cries so bad.
And she's waking up at around 2-3am and is not calming down. So for the past 2 nights we've ended up doing middle-of the night bottles, something we hadn't done since last Spring!
I know she is teething also, I see her first tooth close to the gum line. And I have to say that with my first DD I was so strict with sleep routines. We used CIO sucessfully with Emily and she always had good sleep habits. I am trying to make that work with Riley but it's just not working. I feel like she's a different child and gets worked up in a different way then Emily ever did.
I'm looking for suggestions or any insight, or maybe just someone going through something similar!

Re: Baby's sleep routine still off after Sandy?
Ugh I'm going through the EXACT same thing. DS is 6 months old. From 6 weeks until right before Sandy I could put him down at 7/7:30 pm after his last bottle and play his mobile and he'd babble until he fell asleep on his own. During Sandy, we all slept together in different peoples' houses for a long 16 days. When we finally came back home he had major separation anxiety. It's really bad. I have to rock him for about 20 minutes at night for him to fall asleep. Once he's asleep half the time he wakes up when I put him in the crib. Somehow even if he's out cold he can often wake up when he feels that his head is no longer on my arm. I then start the rocking routine all over again. In the middle of the night he's been waking up and is inconsolable. I've been feeding him even though I shouldn't-only thing that works. Tried to ferberize him and tried CIO and nothing worked. I'll be trying again this week...we're just all so tired! Of course it could be that at this age he is beginning to have separation anxiety/understand that I left the room and he could also be teething a lot...but it's easier to blame sandy No advice !

CIO only worked with #1 for us not #2 or #3 so you may need to find something else that works for her.
It sounds like that tooth is going to cut any day now and that is why she is up. #3 seemed to do that, not with all of them but a lot of them.
I would try giving her motrin when she goes to sleep and see how she does. I prefer that since it is an anti-inflammtory and it helps with the gums.

Re: Baby's sleep routine still off after Sandy?
Ladies, thank you SO MUCH! See, it is good to at least know that I am not alone! I am so tired and I know so many moms do this for years at a time and it's only been a few weeks for us! I have to count myself blessed that she was a good sleeper for so long with hopes that we will somehow return to that. I do think that CIO might not work for her, she's a diffferent baby then her sister was. They are both wonderful but in such different ways!
I am going to try motrin before bed tonight. It is funny bc when DD1 was teething we did that plenty of times. They've gotten so much more strict with OTC meds so I've been hesitant to do it with Riley, but it is probably fine oncex in a while to help with teething pain!
