Baby Thermometer?
Which one are you guys registering for? I was reading Baby Bargains last night, they don't love ear ones, they said they don't believe they're as accurate as standard thermometers. I saw this one on BRU website, it has attachments for mouth, underarm, and booty readings, and got decent reviews. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Baby Thermometer?
I read the same thing. I had registered for an ear thermometer. Apparently, rectal is the way to go. I will just get a basic digital one at the pharmacy.

Re: Baby Thermometer?
I heard the ear thermometers are a waste as they are not accurate. Neither my DH nor I want to do it rectally so I registered for the one that scans the forehead, it is accurate.

Re: Baby Thermometer?
I actually have all three. I have a rectal digital for 6 months and under, the ear and the temperal (forehead)
I like the forehead one the best, but the rectal is the only way to go for babies under 6 months old i was told.

Re: Baby Thermometer?
I registered for this one at BRU.
It was forehead ones, a Pacifier one, an ear one, a regular one .

So I'm thinking maybe the one I found is a good idea then. But it does underarm, not forehead, in addition to rectal and mouth.
And DH is already freaked about the rectal part, and I'm not thrilled with the idea, but I've read it is the most accurate for infants.

Re: Baby Thermometer?
We have this Vicks Rectal Thermometer (about $10).... You get the reading in 10 secs and the little metal tip is the only thing that's inserted. You get more accurate readings with it than with the ear, forehead and/or underarm.
DS is 20 months old and we still use it.... It's usually done before he knows it.

Re: Baby Thermometer?
The rectal is the most accurate and for babies under 6 months even a slight fever can be very dangerous.
I use the rectal for the most part and an ear one for quick temps not for the accuracy of it if he has a fever.
