baby surgery- anyone have similar situation?

Baby has abnormal foreskin, only on top -naturally half circumcised, lack of
skin underneath that can pull as he gets older, they need to
reconstruct all that, and his pee hole is "webbed" which will
interfere later in life too with peeing and ejaculating. in the end of it all he will look
circumcised but they can't do it the regular way.
I am anxious about the anesthesia and about him not being able to
eat beforehand. they said anywhere from 7-9am he always has his bottle by 7. They will not let me know the time until the night before. It goes by age, right now he is the youngest scheduled.
I may wake him in the middle of night -hopefully he'll eat then-and
not want that morning bottle as early?? Its outpatient. Its not a mandatory surgery but 'recommended' - they say easier now than later. I was debating circumcision to begin with, but he is naturally "half" done so that would be cruel to leave him that way -no? Plus the webbed and lack of skin is another reason to do this.....right?
He is 8 months now.

We are getting DS circumcised and he will be 10 months when we do it. I was going to do it at 5 months but didn't want to put him under that young.

Just went through penis surgery. I was also do worried about the not eating but it ended up not being as bad as I thought. I woke my son up at the latest possible time I was allowed, I think at like 3-4 a.m. and then in the morning we were in such a rush to get out of the house that I just just did my best to distract him to not notice he wasn't eating. Surgery was also outpatient and with prep, surgery, and recovery we were in and out in like 3-4 hours.

Not the same circumstances but DS had to have his circumcision redone when he was just over a year old. I was nervous about putting him under, but in the end, everything went fine. I was concerned about him not eating but it didnt really effect him. I had to wake him up that morning (I put him to bed a bit later the night before so he could have some extra milk before bed) I changed his diaper got him dressed and out the door we went. I think with the rush out of the house, being at the out patient center and everything else he really didn't know what to think!! I brought a straw cup for uim to have some water afterwards.

We just did a circumsicion through Stony Brook. He was 12 months and was first in the AM. The next boy was 13 M. He could not have solids or formula after midnight and he could have pedialite up until like 3AM (they told us to be in at 8:30 if I remember correctly. I woke him at midnight to give an extra bottle. I also tried the pedialite when he was tossing around 3Am but he wasn't interested. It was definitely some waiting even in the AM when we got there, but he did ok. Everyone I came into contact with at Stony Brook Ambulatory was nice. It was much less tramautic than I anticipated.

DS was born with hypospadius, it wasn't exactly necessary but considered reconstructive, he was circumsized during the surgery as well. He was 6 months old, under anestesia and done at the Stony Brook outpatient facility. I was nervous and cried when they took him from us, but it was relatively quick and there were no complication what so ever. Its more nervewracking than anything else, but it the end it worth it. I am pretty sure he couldnt have anything to eat that morning, but he was scheduled early and got to feed shortly after the surgery.

Dd had surgery at 9 mos to remove a growth on her neck. I too was worried about the eating issue.
I was worried about the 7am car ride to hospital sonwe jjust got a hotel close by since I knew she wouldn't last an hour car ride without her bottle or food.
I did wake her around 1 am and gave a bottle. Got to hosp around 8 am and she was permitted clear liquids, so we allowed her a bottle of diluted apple juice. A case ran over and she wasnt taken to OR till 12:45, but she did ok and even napped on me for an hour.
I was so nervous about anesthesia,but she did great!! Just try to relax and know it will be over quick.

I would have the surgery done now so he will not remember it as ever being an issue and he can learn to potty train when he is older just like every other child without issue. If it gives you any comfort the American Academy of Pediatrics just came out in favor of routine circumcision of all babies because it has proven health benefits. eta: when my son had his bris, I was an absolute crying mess.

We had this with DS. They gave us a spot at 10i was worried but was not that bad. We keeper him up late......gave last bottle at 1145pm. Then played and put down late. Let him sleep till we where running out the door. Once there he had do much going on. They did the iv after he was in operating room and given gas so he never got upset or nervous.
