baby sleeping on tummy at 6months?
Jonah is all about rolling onto his tummy these days. We had to break him of the swaddle cold turkey because he kept rolling over.
Now he is in a sleep sack and we are having to do CIO all over again. He seems to always fall asleep on his side or on his tummy - do I have to still worry about SIDS with tummy sleeping, or is it ok now since he is doing it on his own?

I know this sounds bad, but my son slept on his belly from the day he turned 6 WEEKS!! The doctor was totally against it. He had really good head control and he would not sleep AT ALL on his back or side.

My DS was the same way, even if we put him back he would just roll again, so we left him, its the only way he sleeps now, with his little butt in the air

If he can roll and lift up his head my ped said it was fine. DS was sleeping on his belly and side even b/f this.

My DD jsut started sleeping her her tummy Father's Day night. She will be 7 months on Sunday. My DS also did this at the same age. He's 2.5 years old now.

As long as he's rolling over, it should be fine.
DS slept on his stomach from 9 weeks. It was the only way he would sleep. For the first 9 weeks of his life he slept on me on his stomach. To this day (DS is 8 1/2 months old) he will roll himself onto his stomach to sleep.

My son has been sleeping on his side or his belly for a LONG time. Once they can roll they should be fine.

Gianna started sleeping on her stomach at 5 mos. I would put her on her back, and she'd roll to her belly. She has great neck control, and she's able to flip over to her back as well. I was nervous at first, but she really gets a better night's sleep like this.

DD always winds up on her tummy--there's no stopping it. I would say it's fine
