Baby sitter going rate
Just wondering what the going rate for a sitter is. My DS daycare head teacher will be sitting for us on Sat while we are at a family dinner. We are settling on a rate tomorrow and I want to be sure I'm in the ballpark.
She is older (around 35) and is his head teacher.
We were thinking between 13 and 15 per hour?

This. When I babysit Icharge $20 per hr.
-i cook straighten up after kids bathe read stories help with homework take care of pets (if needed) so when parents get home they dont have much to do but go to bed or relax.

Wow $20 a hour! That is nuts. I have 2 kids and I pay $10 an hour. That is for feeding them dinner (which is already cooked), playing with them, and putting them to bed. I would expect a nanny to clean up the house, not a sitter.

$13-$15/hr sounds right, given that she's a head teacher, and therefore more qualified than a teenager. I think $10 is appropriate for a teenager or non-teacher.

I've heard of friends paying $10 for 3 kids to $20 for 1 kid. It depends on the amt of hrs, # of kids, ages and what the person is expecting to be paid. Some people are obviously fine with $10.
