Baby Shower

I am just curious who is giving everyone their baby shower? There were many different thoughts about who is suppose to host it.

My mom and sister are giving me mine and now my MIL is upset because she wanted I guess to be involved which she totally still can. The only things planned as far as I know are the date, place, and maybe invitations. All the fun things like games and decorations are not set in stone.

I guess it is my fault that she is upset because my mom asked me if she should inform her of what we were planning but I told her the more people trying to pick and place the harder it will be. We already had three women to put their input which I feel is plenty lol (my mom, sister and me) Did everyone else include their mil or sil in every step of planning?

Re: Baby Shower

My mom is hosting but I am planning it soup to nuts. My mom barely speaks English and doesn't drive so it is just much easier this way. It worked out well for my bridal shower so I'm sticking to the same plan. I will be asking for DH's and my cousin's opinions on things and definitely be running stuff by my mom too but she's more of the attitude of whatever you want and makes you happy honey, which is really nice.

No MIL or SIL involvement. I'm pretty take charge of stuff anyway and I just don't want help from others. I will say that I was annoyed with DH because he made an issue of making sure the shower date was ok with his mom (still not booked but gave her the two weeks I'm thinking) and taking her up on her offer to help. Still waiting for the offer. Chat Icon Not a word. Not sure if she knows I don't want/won't accept help. She's a school teacher and retiring in June so she made it a point to say something about her retirement party. SIL is just useless and I'll leave it at that. She didn't attend my bridal shower and don't expect her for the baby shower either.

Sorry! Kind of veered off topic there with my own vent. My advice is if you have a good relationship with MIL and want to smooth things over, try and involve her with something for the shower, even if it's just small.

Good luck!

Baby Shower

MIL is paying for half of it, my mom is deceased. My dh is paying for the other half (not happy about it bc I don't want one) and friends are helping with planning. My own sister isn't involved much, not going there. I would explain to your mil what happened and ask her to still help you don't want to sully the relationship.

Re: Baby Shower

My mom and sister threw me my shower. I was surprised my MIL even made the trip... lord knows she wasn't going to chip in or offer to help with anything. As per usual she just showed up, shared her unwelcome opinions and sat there not doing a d@mned thing the entire time... Anyway... mom and sis planned the whole thing and just asked me for input on the theme and games. They did everything else.

My mom is planning the bulk and I'm pitching in here and there because I can't let my parents spend all that money in good conscience. We just have too many family members lol

Re: Baby Shower

My mom hosted and paid. I helped her plan it. My MIL had no involvement. I invited a group of her people and it was totally fine. Then again, I once got into an argument with her four years ago because she didn't believe in baby showers. The only input I asked for was what date was good.

Baby Shower

My Best friend is planning mine, shes practically my sister. My MIL threw a fit that she wasnt a part of the planning, but after the s**t that went down for planning my bridal shower I just wanted one person to plan it.

My mom, well, my parents planned and paid for most of mine. And, my best friend helped with decorations, favors and games. My in-laws did most of the planning and paying for our Jack and Jill when we got married.

Re: Baby Shower

my sister has an entourage of people lol she's working on the baby shower. My family is huge!!!! so I have decided to host my shower at our home. Our home is pretty large and our backyard as well. We will rent a nice tent and decorate with tables and stuff. I'm sure it will look nicely besides the convenience of just keeping all the gifts in one place without transporting is a major plus...I'm ok with anything they plan for me i know it will be great lol
