Baby movement at end of pregnancy

I'm 39w3d today and miserable.

has always been a very active baby, especially at the end of the day. I'd say from 7:00 on, she is constantly on the move. But at this point, she's over 8 lbs. (allegedly ) and it's getting so uncomfortable. Not only that, but her movements have increased - didn't think that was possible.

Last night I had to get out of bed because the movements were so big and often that I honestly felt like the baby was going to fly out of me. I've had a lot of pressure in my lady region and I can feel most of her movements down there. It was freaking me out because though I wasn't in pain, I was very, very uncomfortable and wasn't sure if something was starting.

I paced around my home for a bit hoping the movement would lull her but it didn't really work. Even today her movements are huge, uncomfortable and mostly felt down low, though I feel her EVERYWHERE - it's concentrated down there.

Is this normal? Is there any way I can get her to quiet down? Is this any indication that labor is on its way? I've been 1 cm dilated since 36w5d.

It's the only part I hate about being preggo, the movement when they're huge.

Had it with both pregnancies. Didn't slow down till I went into labor.

I'd be on the phone to the OB. Why the heck not? I would call and leave messages about everything and anything. I'm sure they were glad once DD was born lol.

Megan was VERY quiet at the end. Actually, she was really quiet most of my pregnancy. She'd just get active in the evenings.

I think it was because she was just smiling all the time in there and that doesn't take a lot of movement... or something. That's what she's like now.

Sorry I can't help. Could you text me you're in labor already so I can let everyone know!?!? I jump every time I hear the phone!!!

Go take a nice long walk. Everyone says that will induce labor at the end, and it worked with me. I never walked the entire pregnancy. I took my dog for a nice walk, and the night my water broke.

My DD was very active right up until I went into labor also.
Everyone kept telling me that when she stopped being so active, that's how I'd know I was going to go into labor They were wrong. LOL
The pounding down...increased more the closer I was, I'd take hot showers every night just to try to relax me...

I can totally sympathize with you... seems to be much more active and the movement has gone from being cute to being OMG what are you doing in there and if you really are running out of room and need to do that you are more than welcome to come out...

I have been going for long walks a lot and some shorter walks with DH...hoping it will help motivate her to come out by her due date (which is in 3 days).

I was feeling this for a couple of weeks leading up to the birth of my son and the day I had the baby my OB said those were contractions I was feeling down under -- and my DS never slowed down, esp. at night, he got crazier towards the end and it was so painful -- Call the dr. if the pain in bad.

I'm about a week behind you and could have written this post myself!

Both last night and this afternoon, I actually "yelped" out in pain from his movements!

I think I'm just so close to the end every little new thing feels like it should be a labor indicator. And also, I have a crazy active baby.
