Baby Monitors

We got the Angelcare 3-1 (movement, sound and video) ... we hate it and havent even used it yet. The way the set up needs to be is ridiculous, the wires are so short and the camera sucks.

So, we are returning it.

Any suggestions what we should get? The Motorola looks to get high reviews ...

we also want movement sensor if anyone has any thoughts on this?

TIA

I had the original angel care monitor and really liked it. We also have the Summer Infant monitor, I'm not sure which one anymore, but it's ok. My friend just got the Motorola and I would def recommend that over the Summer one. I saw it when I was at her house and the picture is amazing! I love the two way talk feature too. I've heard good things about the Snuza monitor if you are looking for just a movement monitor. I'm thinking about picking one up this time since I like that the baby can be in the bassinet or the carseat.

Re: Baby Monitors

I was going to do the basic angel care and then a video monitor. The only thing I heard through was that once the baby can scootch around the crib while sleeping and they move off the pad, the alarm will sound and scare the crap out of you.

Her crib is on one wall and the dresser is on the other. That was one of the issues we had with the 3-1 Angelcare. The wires werent long enough to put the camera anywhere and it didnt have the option of hanging it up, I would have had to buy a tripod. So dumb.

Does the Motorola have issues like this?

I got the angel care deluxe, and it came with two pads, I'm hoping it will help solve this problem...will let you know as baby has not yet arrived :)

where did you mount the camera? Was the wire long enough? can it just be placed on a dresser on a different wall of the nursery pointing into the crib? Thanks!

Re: Baby Monitors

We have the Summer Infant BabyTouch and have tested it out and like it so far (long cords, lots of options). Scrolls / pans super wide.

I also heard the Motorola one is fantastic, so you can't go wrong with that one.

Re: Baby Monitors

I have the Motorolla monitor with two cameras. The one camera is above the crib on the wall, not across the room but right above the crib and you can see the whole inside of the crib. It's also there because my two year old is on the other side of the room and I want to see his bed too so I get a super up close view of the baby and a good view of the toddler. The other camera is in our playroom. We got the second because the playroom in the in basement and our bathroom is on the second floor so I would have to carry both kids up the two flights of stairs and throw them in their room while I went to the bathroom and the two yr old would scream because he left his toys or walk so slow I would almost pee my pants. With the second camera I can just grab the monitor and run upstairs while still watching them. It's also great for when I make lunch and they are in the playroom.

Eta: we love the feature that we can talk to each other and that the camera pans the room.

How did you mount the camera on the wall? Does it have a wire running down your wall or is it wireless?

It has a wire. The one in the basement looks the best because the outlets are up high just in case since it's a basement with water and stuff so we have the camera mounted right next to the outlet and tied up the wire behind it so you can barely see it. In the boys room there is an outlet near the crib but where normal outlets are, down near the floor so you can fully see the wire since the camera is mounted up high. Looks wise, eh, but what are you going to do? I'll take a picture for you tonight so you can visualize it better lol

Re: Baby Monitors

Im not too concerned about the wire showing. I mean obv ideally it wouldve been great to be able to hide it but I'll deal with that :)

Thanks so much!
