Baby lotion on newborn
Yay or nay?
The hospital said no but the pediatrician said we could use it (dd is three weeks old)
Any thoughts and experiences?

We started Cetaphil at around 3 weeks for dry skin. Our ped ok'ed it. I would just try to avoid anything with a fragrance.

We havent, because we never felt the need to. But I don't think it is unsafe. Just a preference thing imo.

I used the lavender at 2/3 weeks. I didnt like the CA baby. Now I use cerave. If I know about it then I would have used it

I use coconut oil. He smells yummy and it's amazing on his skin. Sometimes I'll use aquafor too.

Is it needed? If their skin is not dry I wouldn't use it. If it is dry I'd follow what Ped says.

I used grape seed oil. Oils work well and it's a 1 ingredient product I felt safe using.

Baby lotion on newborn
I never put anything on her for months and she had perfect skin.
At 4 months I needed to use sunscreen and that's when her eczema popped up. Then, the more I lotioned her the worse it got. I stopped and it went away.
Now at 10 months, eczema started again. If I lotion her head to toe it gets worse so I just use aquafor on the spots I see. Even cetaphil cream makes her break out worse.
I'd say, if their skin isn't dry, don't mess with it!

I used Johnson's as soon as we left the hospital but had to switch to Aveeno due to excema.

We used Aveeno lotion at about a week old. No issues here, but some babies have sensitive skin. Try it one time and go from there.

We do it and use J&J or mustela. It's part of her bedtime routine on bath days.

I tried not to but if i did I used aquaphor or anything with the least amount of chemicals/fragrances.
I also did not bath them everyday

I use J&J when I'm massaging his tummy (for gas reasons). Hospital said not to use it, Dr said it was fine. DS is 5 weeks old.
