Thank God the baby is alright but this is why - never, ever leave a child in a car unattended. My boyfriend, a cop for 21 years, said this happens SO OFTEN it is scary. He said that most times it doesn't make the news. And he said, usually, the car thieves FREAK when they find out there was a kid in there and dump the car but NOT always and who wants to take that chance?? And if it is cold or really hot and they dump the car and you don't find the child/car for a while -- the variables can be SO grave. I have to be honest, I'm pretty miffed at the owner of the vehicle - I feel like a charge of endangerment because she left that baby unattended or AT LEAST a stern warning, some kind of discussion of she should not have done that and "what were you thinking?" should have taken place. Maybe it was and they didn't mention it but wow. SMH!

Suffolk County police are investigating a car theft in Bay Shore in which a baby girl was briefly taken along with the car on Oct. 19, 2015. The baby, identified by her aunt, Gail Solomon, as Zuriel, was unharmed in the incident, which happened at a Subway shop on Union Boulevard.
Suffolk County police are investigating a car theft Monday in Bay Shore in which a baby girl was briefly taken along with the car.
A police spokeswoman said the baby, less than a year old, was unharmed in the incident, which happened about 8 a.m. at the Subway shop at 1735 Union Blvd.
Police said the driver, a woman, left the car, with its engine running and her infant niece inside, to go into the store.
While she was inside, the vehicle was stolen.
Police said the baby was found unharmed by patrol officers a short distance away from the Subway.
Suffolk County police said a baby girl was found unharmed not far from the Subway on Union Boulevard in Bay Shore from where the car she was in was stolen early Monday morning, Oct. 19, 2015.
A police spokeswoman Monday had no more details, including whether the suspects were in custody or at large.
Gail Solomon, who at the scene identified herself as the woman whose car was stolen, said she went into the shop for a sandwich. She turned around inside the store and then noticed her car was being stolen.
"I saw someone hop in the car," she said.
Solomon said she ran out the door of the shop and after the car. As it pulled away, she darted into a 7-Eleven and called 911.
"I just took off running," she said."
Suffolk County police said a baby girl, identified as by her aunt, Gail Solomon, right, as Zuriel, was found unharmed not far from the Subway on Union Boulevard in Bay Shore from where the car she was in was stolen early Monday morning, Oct. 19, 2015.
Solomon praised the efforts of police and said during the brief ordeal all she thought about was the safety of her niece, whom she identified as Zuriel.
"All I was thinking about was her," she said. "I'm glad she's OK."
Solomon said the experience was something that happens on the television news but not to you.
"You see it on TV, but ..."
Plainclothes detective were seen canvassing the area near the Subway shop. The went into a 24 hour laundromat looking for surveillance videos. The women at the laundromat did not want to comment on the incident.
" . . . At least they found the car and there's a happy ending to this story," said Fading Khaber, manager at the 99 cent store next door to the Subway.

I honestly don't know what is more assinine: leaving a baby alone in a parked car or leaving a baby alone in a car that is running. Absolutely moronic and inexcusable.
I hope she really enjoyed that Italian BMT or Sweet Onion Teriyaki footlong.

People are so effing selfish.I have said it on here before and I will say it again DO NOT LEAVE YOUR KIDS IN THE CAR....take them out..its not that difficult..sure its easier to just "run in" for a few minutes to a store but its also dangerous and plain stupid so stop it!!
If you have kids look after them...properly!

I just read on a FB group I am in that the caretaker was just arrested and charged with child endangerment.

She is a horrible aunt for what she let happen, my sister would NEVER let my son leave her line of vision if watching him.
I don't think she deserved to have the car stolen, I mean, that poor baby.
I'm happy she was arrested and I hope they make her take every single parenting class and probation at LEAST.
