Erica, how hard is it tho. Im concerned about prequalifications etc....like there is no screening process prior.

I bought without a realtor. I found the house on craigs list.
Basically the owner and I negotiated a price and then it went to the lawyers. At that point, before we signed anything I had to show the seller's lawyer my commitment letter from the mortgage company.

We are bout to close on a house sold w/out a realtor. We found out about the house through a mutual friends.

Is there really a screening process with realtors? They take anyone into a house. It's who you decide to let in your home. You should first talk to the person interested when they call and after discussing some details if they're still interested in coming to see it you make an appointment.

We sold our house in 8 days without a realtor!
We put the house in Newsday and on Craig's List. We also posted signs all over our area. On our front lawn we had a large sign with a tube that held fliers with information about the house that people could take.
Ultimately, the couple who bought our house found it in Newsday.
If you can do it without a realtor, I HIGHLY recommend it! While it's a little more work, it definitely pays off financially!

ETA: Make sure you get a binder (we asked for $1,000) AND prequalification letter from a potential buyer!
