Re: Auto insurance

We use a staefarm agent in PJS who works with us when I transferred from Geico to State Farm for my DH, and he got them to lower our rates since we were married, living in the same house, and I was a clean driver, so was he, we did the defensive driving course, etc

Re: Auto insurance

state farm is working on structuring the policy a certain way for us to minimize the $$ impact.

So stupid. Geico insured us for 5 years. We've had some violations and accidents along the way and never raised our rates..they just dropped us.

I'm sorry Chat Icon How irritating!!

Did you speak directly to Geico yourself -- and ask for manager after someone told you no? I'm surprised they wouldn't work with you at all. It's worth trying if you haven't already. My parents' insurance tried to drop them once, but I know my dad was able to work something out with them.

I had 2 incidents (ticket and at-fault accident) when I first insured with them -- both are gone now. While having them, I had one other incident (my parked car was hit)... but I don't think that's on there anymore either.

The only other insurance co I've used is Progressive, sorry!

Good luck!

I just saved a bunch of money by switching to Geico! No seriously, Nationwide tried to charge us $3,000 more for the same exact coverage.

I didn't know they can just drop you. Did you try AIG? I know TSC Direct usually offers low rates but they won't insure "high risk" drivers. Try them anyway 1-800-join-now or look up the website

Re: Auto insurance

I left the call to Geico in DH's hands..

I'm a fool..he will never call.

I'd better do the negotiating.

I don't mind them raising my rates a bit to hedge against their liability but they never once raised the rates..they just up and dropped us.

Allstate dropped DH. Didn't raise his rates or anything. Dropped him for some issues that happend 2 years earlier!
Geico wouldn't even quote him!
So we ended up going through a broker they were able to get him a good rate/policy with Progressive.

It's worth calling for sure. And if the first person you speaks to says there is nothing they can do, ask to deal with a supervisor or a manager.

Good luck! Chat Icon

Re: Auto insurance

We currently have Geico...but when I had a speeding ticket Geico's rates were astronomical (though my DH used them and previously had a suspended license his rates were less). I had MetLife at the time. I was in a 0% fault accident with them and were great to deal with. Would have love to stick with them, but with my speeding ticket no longer showing, Geico is now $500 cheaper (per year).

Re: Auto insurance

the thing is that they show two violations from 2004..I didn't think they go back 4 years. I thought it was 3 years or 40 months.

I guess Geico does.

Re: Auto insurance

Had Geico, switched to Progressive, and saved $400 every 6 months...then got married and we are on Allstate together, and I saved another $600 total every 6 months.

We now use Allstate.

Isn't it five or six years based on your NYS driving record?

State Farm does 3 years..I wonder why Geico is doing 4? These are not major violations..failure to signal, one accident.

Please help. I think Geico is screwing me.

You know what ***** too, can't other insurance companies find out that you have been dropped by your current carrier?

I think that raises your rates too.

I don't know. maybe, but either way apparently, companies have their own criteria.
