Re: August bday party...too hot for outdoors?

My DS's bday is July. His party last year was the hottest day of the year. It was brutal. We got a tent for the food and had a fan blowing in there. Lots of water, drinks, etc. we also have a pool so we did have a pool party. I have been to friends that had kiddie pools and they got one of those water slides that sprays water all over. May want to look into something like that for the kids. We also have som shady areas as well and the AC on in the house if it's too brutal for some. Bc the weather was that bad we had a couple of cancellations. One was pregnant and another not feeling so well.

DS bday is August. It was fine. I also did a water theme with. Blow up water slide, water tables, slip and slide, water balloons, etc. kids lived it and kept them cool.

You obviously have to have indoors as a backup.
It stormed the day I was going to have DS party outdoors and was so hot, my guests all clustered around the room with the air conditioner.

My boys birthdays are July & September. We do a combined party in August for the last 2 years. One year it was extremely hot & the next was beautiful. We have CAC so people have the option to come in but for the most part everyone is outdoors. We always do "water" activities for the kids & have a bouncer.

I think it's fine as long as you provide enough shade because baking out in the sun on a hot day in August isn't fun for anyone. If you don't have a shady backyard I'd make sure to have a few large patio umbrellas or a tent.

My cousin had one and she had a tent with a few really good quiet fans and it worked.

I've been to a few August parties and yes, it's insanely hot but everyone still had a nice time. It's summer, everyone expects to be hot so I wouldn't let that deter you from doing an outdoor party at that time. Chat Icon

I think you never can tell. The summer you have to plan for anything - heat and rain. I would def plan something outside but have a backup plan.

We had DS Christening in July last year and it was almost 100 that day. We had a tent but people were also inside in the AC

Outdoor party in August sounds fun.

I would definitely have some water toys for the kids (water table, sprinklers, baby pool, etc).
