Atlantis Rooms - Cove or Reef?
Has anyone stayed at the newer Reef or Cove rooms?
We plan to go with our 2yo and 4yo and another family with a 1yo and 4yo. We don't plan to cook and I think the Reef are all apartments.
The last time I went was like 6-7 years ago. I think we stayed at Royal.

Re: Atlantis Rooms - Cove or Reef?
Reef is really far so I wouldn't stay there.
Cove is a gorgeous tower. The pools and beach for the Cove are all adults only. You can't even walk through with kids. The rooms are kid friendly and I am almost positive it is an all suites tower.
I think your best bet is either Coral towers (ask for a renovated room) or Royal. The kids pool area is in front of Royal towers and that is also where all the water rides are. If you stay in the Coral towers it is a short walk. The Royal tower is a little nicer than Coral. They all have different pro's and con's. The Marina Village is right outside of Coral towers so that is why I prefer that tower. I can go for a stroll with the kids or go for dinner and it isn't a far walk back. Royal tower is great because the casino is in that tower and it is closer to the kids camp. Coral and Royal towers are the only ones connected.

Re: Atlantis Rooms - Cove or Reef?
It depends on what you are looking for. The reef and the cove are definitely farther from the action. It's a nice 15 minute walk to the royal and marina village and there is a shuttle if you don't want to walk. DH and I actually liked the walk and that it was very quiet at night at the Reef and Cove. But, if you are looking for options at night, you wont get it at the Cove/reef. They have their own pool and beach so you don't get the cruise crowd. It's definitely calmer and a slower pace!
We stayed at the reef. I believe both the reef and cove are suites, but the reef has a kitchenette which was great for simple things like water, milk, beer, frozen waffles, etc for the kids. If you don't need that, then I would go for the cove, though you will get a look here or there from couples who aren't as family friendly.
I've never been to the rooms at the royal or the other towers but I loved the reef. I do wish it was a little closer bc it was a bit of a trek during lunchtime to marina village. At night I didn't mind so much but during the day I would have liked to hop from the beach to lunch to the pool without it being a production.

Atlantis Rooms - Cove or Reef?
Cove no kids are allowed (99% sure). Highly recommend the reef. Yes it's not in the center of the "action" but that's the beauty of it!!!we have stated at the reef and would never stay anywhere else in Atlantis.

How did you like your eating options at the Reef? Is the room service good?
We are leaning towards the Reef. Our kids love playing at the beach and pool. We plan to do the dolphin encounter and sea squirts activity. I hope I do not regret being away from the action. I don't mind a nice leisurely walk but I do like the convenience of being able to run back to the room for a quick change.
We will be going in November.

Re: Atlantis Rooms - Cove or Reef?
I just came back from Atlantis. I have 3 kids ages 2-8. I would recommend staying closest to where you think you'd spend most of your day. I stayed at the Royal Tower and spent a lot of the day at the kiddie pools, water slides and water adventure area which is all off the royal tower and the hike to the rooms were still a pain. We rarely went back to the room. It is even harder because there are so many stairs!!! Often Dh carried the stroller down flights of stairs bc walkways to ramps would take longer to get to/inconvenient. I needed the stroller because if my 2 yr old (who prefer to walk than ride in the stroller) walk it would take forever to get anywhere. I hated not having the convenience to have a quick trip to the room to freshen up and use my own bathroom which I normally would do once or twice a day on resort vacation. We did dine all over the resort - at night the trek back to the room would be tough at times for my exhausted almost 6 yr old. We often took the shuttle buses.

Ugh. I am so torn over these hotel rooms. DH is telling me to just pick one so we can book with our friends.
I always have the dilemma between what I want and what is best for the kids. I personally would love to stay at the Cove but the pool is adult only so it doesn't make sense for us to stay there with the kids. I like newer larger rooms and Reef seems perfect. I can't stand dated rooms and the last time I was at atlantis, I stayed in a dingy room.

When we stayed at the Royal towers, we had a 2 bedroom suite and the room was newly renovated. I would ask to stay in one of those rooms. We also faced the ocean not the marina.
I agree with the previous poster who just came back. I just looked at the map and you are going to regret staying at the Reef. You are talking about a 20-30 minute walk, or you take the shuttle. Paradise Beach is the beach for the Cove tower. Cove beach is for Atlantis guests, great for kids because the current doesn't come in. Atlantis Beach West is for cruises and everyone. The water is rough there and you wont want to stay there. Even with Royal towers you will have a good 10-15 minute walk with a stroller. There are a lot of stairs, you can avoid them, but it seems out of the way. Coral is the same walk but just on the outside and real quick.

The cove looks so nice with pretty decent eating options. I was just looking at a map and it looks like we will have access to the beach directly and pretty close to dolphin cay. The spa is also there.

Mosaic buffet at Cove is the best buffet Atlantis has. Mesa Grill is also really good. You can eat at all the places through out the resort.

I cannot remember how the room service was, but I am guessing it was fine since there is nothing standing out in my mind. Probably just expensive Mosaic was great for breakfast in the Reef. We ate there almost everyday and we usually HATE buffets!! Theirs was more made to order food and it was great. (We didn't even do buffets at Disney). There is also a Starbucks in the lobby that we made TONSSS of use of. I am a starbucks person in general so it was great to have one there. (I still have my mug I bought from there )
For dinners I cant remember where everything was situated where we ate. I do remember loving Mesa Grill. We did not like the burger place in the Royal Towers. We LOVED the steak house in the Royal Towers though. Those are the only things that stand out. Reef is highly recommended. It was new and clean!

Can you help me with the restaurants at the Reef?
From the previous poster, it looks like there is Mosaic (buffet) and Starbucks (we are coffee addicts).
Are there any other restaurants at the Reef?
The website is very unclear. It looks like there are no restaurants and just studios/apts with kitchens.
And where did you buy your groceries?

Atlantis Rooms - Cove or Reef?
There aren't restuarants in the reef I personally never bought groceries we always get the meal plan. I know when my niece was younger my brother asked the taxi driver to stop at a grocery store to get milk but other then that we have never cooked or eaten in the room. Breakfast is always at mosaic because its on the meal plan then usually a snack near the pool for lunch (soup, veggies, nachos etc) and then we do dinner.

OK, so there are no restaurant options at the Reef. That will probably knock out Reef for our hotel options. We are going in November so we want to be able to eat at the hotel and no get stuck in the rain.
I guess we have to choose between Cove and Royal Towers. I think we will probably go with the Cove. The price is not bad at all in November.

Isn't mosaic in the reef?? Even though many of the restaurants are in royal towers many you had to walk outside to even get to those from the royal towers. I dont think there's any in the cove either. For that matter I'd still go with the reef w/ young kids. No question.
ETA. I just looked on the website and I was wrong. Mosaic and mess are in the cove. Still it's right there. Not a far walk by any means. Doesn't change my opinion. In fact funny enough we ate at pretty much every restaurant in the cove and I didn't even remember having to go out of my way to get there. Lol

It is all covered between reef and cove
I have been down there many many times in November at it doesn't really rain a lot. Great weather can it rain yes but not all the time I honestly wouldn't worry about it

Re: Atlantis Rooms - Cove or Reef?
The Beach tower is not connected to anything.
Coral and Royal towers are connected via the casino. The coral tower has: Virgirl's which is BBQ but I heard it isn't great Bahamian Grill which is a very dressy restaurant and I am not sure they allow kids. Chop Stix..asian Outside of Coral towers you have Lagoon Bar and grill
Royal Towers has: Marketplace Buffet Nobu (great!) Plato's
Cover Tower has: Mesa Grill I think Seagrapes is also a buffet in this tower. You pass it to go to Mosiac Mosiac buffet
In the Marina Village: Murrary's Deli Carmine's Johnny Rockets Bimini Road A pizza place Cafe Martinique (fancy) Seafire Steakhouse Ben & Jerry's
Dune is at small resort that is also owned by Atlantis but it is separate.
Now, there are some new restaurants that I never heard of: Casa D Angelo Olives
You can stay at any tower and eat at all of these locations. To only stay in one tower and not leave it , will be boring, honestly. You do so much walking.
As far as markets. When you arrive at the airport, let the cabby know you want to go to the supermarket. You can get everything you need. I usually bring cereals, bread, snacks from home and anything that needs to be refrigerated I buy there. Buy bottle water, the water at Atlantis is very expensive. The bellman will bring everything to your room. I do all this even just staying in the Royal and Coral towers. Some may recommend going to the hotel first then the supermarket, but you need go over the bridge again, and depending when you arrive you can have a lot of traffic.

The last time I was at Atlantis, we ate at every restaurant at the marina village, nobu and marketplace several times. we also ate at the restaurant by the aquarium and a few places by the water. can't remember any of the restaurant names as it was 6-7 years ago.
My pick will be Cove since I have never been over there and never eaten at any of the restaurants. I didn't find any of the restaurants in the village to be impressive. I liked nobu and will definitely be eating there again. I don't remember the food at the aquarium area but we will probably eat there for the kids.
Thank you for all your input! I appreciate it.

Re: Atlantis Rooms - Cove or Reef?
I don't think you'd be disappointed with the Cove. We did go to go Beach daily with the kids (went 4th weekend).
We used Foodtogo (like a peapod) to order waters, drink boxes and snack packs for the kids. We ate at many of the restaurants. We made all our reservations as soon as we were allowed. Many of the better restaurants will allow kids just before a certain time which I think the latest is 630pm (many people will tell you no kids at all). There are a few that are no kids at all. We have three kids ages 2-8 and ate at quite a few nice places. We ate at Casa de Angelo (delicious), Mesa Grill (awesome), Seagrapes or whatever the steak house was (best lamb chops I have had in a looong time or maybe ever!), and Bahamian Grill or whatever the name is (good but not as good as the others). We did the dinner buffet in Royal Towers the first night since it was a travel day) and the last night we did the buffet downstairs in the Royal Towers in the aquarium and it was ok - but kids loved the fish and they begged to go back to the buffets since they eat like pigs there! (we were suppose to go to chopsticks that night but canceled for that).

We plan to book today or tomorrow. Since we are going with another family, I want them to book first.
I am assuming the cabs can drive straight to the cove, correct? sorry if it is a stupid question.
Will definitely place a Foodtogo order for water, juice and fresh fruit.

We took a shuttle to and from airport so not sure about cabs but there were cabs at the front of the Royal tower daily.
