My BIL said 7 but I think that is too young to stop. I love getting them. No matter who or what is in them.

They can stop when you want them to stop, some of my aunts and uncles still send out christmas photo cards, and there kids are teenagers!

I know the boys will probably want to stop at a younger age......

This I agree, BUT, my MOH's kids range from 6-14, so the 14 year old does it because he still has younger siblings that are young enough for it. Chat Icon

I enjoy getting them!

Heck, I just got a picture of my aunt, uncle and cousins with their Christmas card and both of them (cousins) are in their 20's!

Hmm, i just got a picture of Dh's cousin, she's 9 and totally makeuped and hammed up.

I might be the only one here, but I think the cards should stop when the youngest reaches that not so cute/awkward tween stage.

I know I will not send photo cards out when my youngest reaches 7-8 years old.

Friends of the family send out a card every year and there kids are in college. It's not the standard pose though - it's very creative.

Since the kids were young, they sent out the Brooklyn Santa cards - it's the one we wait for every December. Every year it's a B&W card with them in red Santa costumes.

Our favorite was a shot of a NY city subway station. The little girl was on the bench in commuter like fashion, lets crosses, reading a NY Times. The little boy was at the platform waiting for a subway station with a pipe in his mouth. The father would be on the floor, with a violin & a tin cup. The mother would be on the other side of the platform, with Macy's bags.

I only wish I had the creativity - if I did, I would probably do the same.

Re: At what age do you think photo cards should stop?

My parents stopped ours when we were in our late teens. My brother and I didn't care....
When we stopped, my parents continued the tradition and now send the picture cards out of themselves! They send a pic of them from when they are on vacation from the summertime.

I like that my parents did the picture cards for so long. It is a great record of us growing up! I plan on doing the same for our kids.

Re: At what age do you think photo cards should stop?

For only children, IMO about 8 or 10.
For more than one children, depends. For example my friend has a 12 yr old, a 10 yr old, a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old. She still sends a card with all of them on it but said if she just had the 2 eldest she wouldn't bother since they are older and wouldn't really want to have it done but b/c of the younger two she does it and they don't mind being in the picture then.

Re: At what age do you think photo cards should stop?

I love them and I keep them and pack them in with the tree ornaments. I was just looking at pics of my nieces & nephews & children of friends from the past few years. I love seeing how much the kids have changed side by side. I'd love to see pics of the same kids at 10, 20, etc... I never thought about when I'd stop. I like whole family pics too. I dont understand the pictures of peoples pets dressed in Santa hats and reindeer ears but I do love people pictures. (oh only kidding all you pet owners who have done that or still do that, its fine LOL Chat Icon )

My cousins have sent a b/w picture with their holiday card forever. The youngest is 24 and we got one last year - I'm sure there will be one this year as well. (My cousin is a photographer)
