My son is 4 and can swim, yet I still watch him in the bath every minute. What is everyone else doing?

My boy is 6 and I check every few moments while having a converstation..wont be able to speak if he was drowning..
Baths are rare, he has been taking showers since he was 3 yrs old. You should NEVER leave a child totally unattended while they are bathing.

i think my was was about 8 or 9 when i felt i didn't need to check in anymore. like stated above, i'd just hang out in the bathroom and "chat". i always had "something unrelated" to do in the bathroom. didn't want him to know i was checking up on him.

My son has been taking a shower now instead of bath for the past year (he just turned 4), so it's a lot easier to let him go at it alone. I still come in to help him wash his hair and rinse him off.

Smae here with my DD, she will be 4 next month. Often she takes a bath with my 2 year old so I am in there 100% of the time when he is in but when she is having a "private bath" (as she calls it), I do the same as Trish but call to her pretty often if she isn't singing away. I stay close though, my bathroom is just up from my main living area. I probably would not do it if it was on the second floor and we were on the first floor. I started feeling comfortable with leaving her in there alone 6 months ago.

MY son was taking showers too, but he much prefers a bath so I let him enjoy, but I always watch. I think he will always enjoy the bath so I was just wondering... HOnestly what made me think of this is that my neighbors and I have 3 four/five year olds running between yards between sprinklers and the baby pool yesterday which made us wonder if we need to be keeping a closer eye on their activities. The pool only had 3 inches of water and there are three of them...but it made us think.
