Astoria: snow and parking in general
Headed to Astoria this weekend. Is the snow situation there bad (in regards to parking?)
Overall - is there a parking garage in the area?
Thanks!

Astoria: snow and parking in general
I saw I asked this before! Are there any parking garages? I'm going to drive in with my SO and be dropped off, so I guess he could bop around if he had to.

Re: Astoria: snow and parking in general
I live in astoria a few nights a week and I refuse to drive there. It takes 3 trains with a 45min-he commute from where I am (LIRR, 7 train and the n/q ) parking is a nightmare. If you're going for the weekend, you should be fine. Is it just dinner?? There's probably a municipal lot where you'll be. I usually park there and just pay for the entire day if I have to drive in. Tonight, I'll most likely be taking an Uber.

High traffic areas like Astoria, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, MV , etc etc you will find parking to be a dilemma unfortunately. Not sure of parking garages but there's an app called BestParking - plug in the address and it will let you know if anything is available. Good luck!

Re: Astoria: snow and parking in general
I work in the Area and on a normal day its pretty tough, with the snow its horrific. Most of the right lanes are covered and then cars parked along side of that blocking a lane some are parked diagonal. Not sure if the snow will be a little less considering the weather but Good Luck! I would take the train.

Is it at a restaurant? They may have valet. If not, just get there early and be prepared to drive around a while looking for a spot and you have have to walk a few blocks.

Depends on where. I used to live in Astoria and my street had decent parking. Closer to the train and major streets like ditmars, 30th Ave and Broadway and you'll have a harder time.

Depends on the area. Like PP have said, the restaurant may have a valet, if not you may be near a municipal lot, or have to park a few blocks away.

I live in Astoria. Like others said, parking on a good day sucks! I don't know of any garages (though they are needed) but there are some municipal parking lots.
