First time around I didn't know how we were going to do it. It was amazing how you just work it out.

Having baby number 2 was a little more planned out financially as daycare for 2 is a pretty penny. But again we figured it out and now I am confident we will be ok.

I think of it this way when our kids get to school we will be able to save everything we were spending on daycare and then some so we will catch up savings wise then.

I was worried when my son was born and I took on part-time work rather than fulltime. NOw my second one is on the way and I'm in a bit of a panic (it is not easy to get parttime daycare for an infant nor can we afford two in school) so my dh will be working two late nights a week and my son will go to a cheaper coop where he can continue to learn social skills. I am worried but we worked it out the first time and we will do it again.

If I waited until I could afford a baby I would be too old to have one. I think most people find away to accomodate new member. Some sacrifices have to be made. But for most it all works out.

I used to worry about it then I just stopped worrying. I have been saving since January while DH has paid most of the bills. We make a pretty good salary together and DH on his own makes a good salary. I get 12 weeks MLA and i have 20 vacation/sick days that I have accrued that i have to use. I think we will be ok. I have enough to cover my bills for 4 1/2 months saved up.

Only thing i worry is that we currently have 3 homes ( 1 is under construction) the other 2 are rental homes. If something goes wrong then we will have to get rid of our 2 rental homes. Which will suck and DH will not be happy about that. But we are willing to make any sacrifice for our little one.

Im concerned but not really worried...

As a BTDT Mom I can honestly say that you get through it and things have a way of working out...

Im not working right now and I wont once the baby is born..BUT...should we get really strapped financially I'll go back to work a couple of days a week.

I def feel nervous, esp since i am taking 5 months off and not getting paid for it (i work per diem so no maternity leave pay), we have been saving so that we can pay our bills during that time, plus DH got a new job this month that pays more $$ and we have his stock options, if we really need $$. I think we will be OK as we have been planning everything financially since finding out I was preggos. I plan on going back 3 days a week when the baby comes as I make more per year working parttime then some people who work fulltime (thank god i went back for my masters in my profession) so it does not make sense for me to stay at home. Hopefully I wont have to go back anymore then that though, but i guess we will see where we are at when the time comes. Plus my SIL is going to watch the baby 2 days a week, so paying only one day of childcare is going to help so much

i am definitely scared... It keeps me up at night sometimes worrying about it. We are going to be living paycheck to paycheck and will really not have any additional money. So, when holidays, events,birthday,etc come up, i guess we'd have to dip into our savings??? I just dont know.. I try not to stress over it because i know it will work out, but then again, we really need to have a plan.

a little...we were doing so-so before, now I have been on disability for 3 months ( NYS..at like $140 a week after taxes ) and I wont be returning to work after the babies born. So I know things will be tight, but you make it work. You find a way. So I try not to worry about it.

I am realiztic about our goals and needs, but worrying wont change the situation.

we're concerned. my husband pays ALOT of money in child support each month, equivalent to what we'd pay for daycare for a newborn from 6am to 6pm. so i cant stay home b/c we wouldn't be able to pay the mortgage on his income alone. it really stinks b/c i always invisioned my life as a SAHM but since i didnt go into a well paying job - im a teacher, theres not much in the savings.

it really stinks but others have been able to do it, so i guess it wont be that bad. hmmmm

Absolutely!
I try not to think about it that much b/c i know we will find a way. I feel bad for DD b/c for 7 years she has been able to do nice extra things like dance,soccer, seeing shows on broadway, ect. now i dont think i will be able to do those things for a while.

Very-everything we do is based on the fact that my mother watches my daughter. Now that we will have to day for daycare, it just throws another $1000 a month in to our expenses.

We are not living paycheck to paycheck, we have a very good savings account, but how fast will we go through it having our child in day care?
That is also why I am only taking 6 weeks.
