Are you having your car seat inspected? Is it law?
My DH is planning on putting the car seat in my car tomorrow, after we have it washed and thoroughly cleaned in preparation for baby.
My question is... do we HAVE to bring it somewhere for inspection? Don't get me wrong... I would never jeopardize my baby's safety, but I TOTALLY trust how careful and competent my DH is in doing things like this. He is meticulous and very handy, so I feel like he would be able to do this without a problem. And I know that if he was unsure if he did it right, he would bring it somewhere to get checked.
What are you doing/what have you done in the past? TIA!

We never did..like you... I am pretty confident in my DH's capability...plus we have moved all the carseats between cars in the 4 yrs we have been parents...so I def wouldn't have had them tested every time!

we didnt get them inspected. DH installed it and i watched him do it. the bases were very tight so we didnt think we needed to get them inspected.

There is no law that you have to get it inspected, but since it is free, you might as well get it done. Especially for first timers. Most people do not pull them as tight as they really should be or have them installed incorrectly and don't realize it. I had the infant carseat and convertible carseat inspected for my son and just had the infant one inspected again for this baby. Trust me, my husband is fully competent, but having it checked out by a "professional" gave me peace of mind.

I agree with the pp. There is no law that says you have to do it, but it is free! I had it done last week, and learned a lot from how they put it in, to why it shouldnt have been in the middle seat of my particular truck, etc. It took all of 10 minutes of my day, and Im glad that I did!

Have it checked out -- more than 90% are installed wrong. The biggest mistake in when installed in the center. There are several reasons for this, using LATCH improperly; not locking properly; center is really not the best choice in some vehicles.
It takes so little effort to have it checked, it is foolish not to.
I have checked seats of parents that were confident and again found over 90% were wrong.
