Are you fixing up your house only to sell it soon?
Are you fixing b/c you want to live there for a long time nicely or you want to make a profit and move again?

we bought a starter home so we plan on moving again eventually or we will have to dormer

We bought 3 yrs ago with the intention of not staying more than 5 yrs or so. The house needed work, and we did as much as we could ourselves, which saved money. Everything we did was with resale in mind. For the new house we're moving into though, I don't want to have that mindset at all. This is the house we're going to STAY in!

We've known all along that this isn't our "family home". We're fixing it with the intent of selling after the wedding next year - or whenever the right opportunity presents itself.

We fixed ours to sell again. This house was a starter home. It's very small, but in an amazing location. We fixed the house ourselves, and we're looking to make a profit to put towards our family home.

We will probably sell in the next 5 yrs. We are remodeling the kitchen and bath partly to make us happier with them, but mainly to up our resale value.

I guess a little of both. We knew when we bought in 2000 that we'd be there for a bit, so we wanted to make some changes so it could feel homey. If we have another child, we'd be looking to move, so any work is going to help in that aspect too.

Well neither one of us is really in love with this house so we are debating whether to really pour money into it to make it what we want so we can be happy and stay since the location is perfect or just sell it as is... with maybe some minor fixes. We know that the resale value will be pretty high regardless because of the great location.

Hmm, I don't know. I guess resale value is part of it, but we're really making the improvements because we want them. We're not planning on moving aytime soon.

we fixed ours for resale and all our repairs were done with resale in mind. all i've gotta say is it really paid off when we sold it!
