Are you eating healthy?
I feel like I'm not eating as well as I should be because I 'm always nauseous.
I feel pretty guilty - I mostly eat pasta when I should be eating more vegetables.
How are you guys doing?

Re: Are you eating healthy?
I'll preface this post by saying I don't have morning sickness... at least not YET. for m/s, I read that low blood sugar levels makes you feel much much worse... and it's by far much better to eat many small meals / drinks throughout the day to minimize your nausea.
What if you were to try to eat / drink a bit more diverse foods (whatever you can tolerate) in tiny batches throughout the day, and leave some juice near your bed over night? maybe it might help?

Re: Are you eating healthy?
During my first tri, I can def say that I did not eat healthy at all.....
All I ate was pastas and breads. It was for the most part all I could keep down.
Further into my pregnancy, I am def eating healthier. My only concern with myself is that I wish I could up my protein a little more - I totally have an aversion to poultry, and there's only so much beef a girl can take.
I make sure to eat lots of fruits and veggies, as well as drink fruit juice (make sure it's fruit juice, and not fruit cocktail), I eat beans to compensate for the lack of meat proteins, and I try so hard every so often to get a little bit of chicken or turkey into my diet.... If I mask the flavor of it - I can get a little in b4 my taste buds start turning on me.

Yes and no if that makes sense
Yes ~ I drink a ton of water each day, I try my best to eat fruit and veggies daily.
No ~ I need carbs, who am I kidding...I LOVE carbs!! I find it to be the only thing that fills me up.

Re: Are you eating healthy?
well the past two days, I've been really sick, so i've been eating light...soups, salads and chicken. I'm drinking more water than I ever have...I'm most definately trying to eat better than I usually do, but I'm not going to deprive myself of something sweet or salty if I want it. I'm only in the first trimester and so far I've lost 4 lbs...not sure if its from being sick or b/c my metabolism has speed up

Re: Are you eating healthy?
Yup, I have to watch my salt intake and carbs, so I have to watch what I eat all the time. I feel better when I eat healthier anyway, so its good.

Absolutely. I have been careful to get enough fruits and vegetable as well as calcium(although as soon as the m/s hits I will eat whatever I can keep down)

Re: Are you eating healthy?
I can honestly say NO. I haven't changed my eating habits at all (other than what we shouldn't eat).
But i will say this... i used to be the junk food queen. But ever since i got pregnant, i don't want any junk food for snacks. I've been eating clementines, apples, blackberries, blueberries, etc.

Re: Are you eating healthy?
I try to but I think I ate healthier prepregnancy. I have a lot of food aversions especially to protein products. I substitute with extra milk and beans for chicken and steak b/c I am not eating as much as I should be.
The only way I eat chicken now is smothered in something which isn't great for my weight gain.

Re: Are you eating healthy?
I have been eating really well..........whole grains, fruits, I cut out all soda.
BUT.......yesterday I don't know what happened to me!!! I ate McDonald's, Twinkies, a Dunkin Donut..........what the heck??? I felt like a slug and I got so queasy after that so I learned my lesson.......back to good healthy food. It makes me feel so much better!!!

Re: Are you eating healthy?
Oh I feel guilty all the time! I don't like any fruits (except can stomach apples once in a while) and not many veggies. I spoke the dr about it and she said to just make sure I'm taking my vitamins daily.

Re: Are you eating healthy?
Well is healthy when I can name all the ingredients in my food, then yes
Honestly I drink a TON more water than I used to.
Still I have cravings for more fruits and veggies but can't afford to buy them.
My budget is extra slim (god help me) and so I try to at least have my OJ every morning, drink tons of water, stay away from the no nos and eat salad at work.
Its the best I can do
I honestly LOVE to eat healthy normally but I just don't have the money
I just ate two small hamburger buns with butter cause I was dying of hunger.
Good news my huibby said he found some extra cash after his budget so we are going for groceries. More Grapes, oranges, yogurt, jello and veggies for me!!!
I find I want more breads than I used to.

if you want to eat lots of veggies but it's too go to the frozen food section and get all the frozen veggies in those bulk bags (the ones without the sauces/flavoring). They are much less $$$ than fresh produce, and believe it or not, they have even higher nutritional value than the stuff in the produce isle right now.... (becuase the frozen stuff was picked in season and flash frozen close to the farm.... not driven all the way from california and sitting in a truck for a couple weeks)
they're also super convenient becuase you can use what you need, and put the rest back... no waste

Thanks I already buy bulk frozen right now
I watch food tv and Love Alton Brown "Good Eats" and he was the one I first learned that info about Frozen Veggies being just as good.
Just got back from our Costco/grocery run
Got Yogurt, Grapes, Naked Juice, OJ, water and sliced peaches. All yummy

Re: Are you eating healthy?
I started a health kick back in September in preparation for TTC, so I've been doing pretty well. But currently only 5 weeks in and no signs of morning sickness yet, so I can't say that I'll stick with it. I do have weak moments though, which usually come in the form of Doritos or Salt and vinegar potato chips
ETA: I also try not to have coffee unless I really feel like i need it and even then I have decaf.

Re: Are you eating healthy?
I think so. I watch everything I eat now & try to incorporate more calcium & protein into my diet. I started drinking orange juice & apple juice everyday & every other day, I would eat yogart.
