Are you buying diapers now?

So, I was at Target last night and they were having a sale on the big box of Pampers. So I bought it. (size 2)

Now I feel the urge to stock up on wipes and diapers and all kinds of random things. Should I just go with the urge or wait till after the shower to fill in the gaps?

personally lizzy - i'd wait until after the shower... You could get a diaper cake - or many many boxes of diapers.... i know that whenever i go to a baby shower - i always get a box of diapers for the parents to be!

Re: Are you buying diapers now?

I tried to register for diapers/wipes but DH told me to remove them from our registry. He was like, "don't you want a real gift, not diapers? we can buy our own diapers." Then I tried to buy diapers and he said they would clutter up the house. I think I am going to kill DH! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Are you buying diapers now?

I am due in 37 days and JUST bought newborn and size 1 diapers this weekend. I would wait- they are always on sale and why store them?

Re: Are you buying diapers now?

I did not get one box of diapers or any wipes at all at my shower-
every time my mom and dad come to my house (they are on LI and I am in CT) they bring diapers for us.

I bought one or two boxes so far... but no wipes.

I will be going shopping in the next week or so to stock up a bit.
I am 34 w 3 days

My Mom told me I should start picking up diapers here and there when I see a good sale. It's great advice I think...haven't done it yet though. lol

Re: Are you buying diapers now?

they are ALWAYS on sale! in the 6 months that DS has been here i only saw one sale where is was worth it to stock up--CVS had jumbo size pampers (or huggies i forget!) for like $6 with EB coupons

i wouldn't buy anything until much later--and you will prob get them as gifts!

I have been buying them since before I was even PG when they were on sale. I use CVS mostly so when they either hae BOGO or Buy 1 Get 1 1/2 off, I stock up.

I didn't get any diapers for my shower. And you can't go wrong with size 2 at allChat Icon

I honestly don't even know how much diapers cost, so I wouldn't know a good diaper sale if it bit me in the butt. lol

(I'm sure I'll be much more familiarized with it soon)

But it isn't really.

You don't know how big DC is going to be, or if they will be allergic to a certain diaper or if one doesn't fit them that well...

Don't buy a lot of diapers. We had 1 package of NB when we got home and that was IT!

If that ends up being the case, then cant you just return or exchange them for what works for you?? Chat Icon

Yes. Well at CVS anyway. I bought sooo many size 5's for Andrew when they had the BOGO sale and then later on without a receipt exchanged them for a smaller size.

Depends on the store, BRU and Target (where I've bought a lot of diapers) do not take them back anymore.

A lot of places are stringent in that now.

I honestly wouldn't spend the money. Especially when the hospital sends you home with them.

Re: Are you buying diapers now?

I bought 2 boxes of Pampers Swaddlers when BJ's had a sale, not planning to get anymore than that, just in case the swaddlers doesn't work for my DD.

I did stock up on Pampers sensitive wipes though, we use that ourselves too.

Re: Are you buying diapers now?

Just a word of advice, don't stock up TOO much. Like buy a box of each size if anything. DS just blew through size 2's in maybe 3 weeks TOPS. I had bought a BJ's box of them and only used half Chat Icon And whatever you do buy, just keep the recipts (I tape them to the box/bag). Plus I found that for DS Huggies always leaked and I liked Pampers, but a lot of people have the other problem (one fits better) so you won't know until your DC arrives! Oh and the only way I know if I am getting a good deal on diapers is to determine the cost per diaper. For size 3's I paid $0.17 each when I bought a box from BJ's with a coupon. Otherwise I have no idea if the sale is good or not Chat Icon

Re: Are you buying diapers now?

Even though you have the urge when you see a great sale on diapers... Hold off.

REASONS:

1. You will get diapers @ your shower.
2. You don't know what size your baby will be when you have him.
3. and this one is the most important... You don't know which diaper will work best for your child! Everyone raves about Pampers, so I tried them.... well they didn't work for my DD AT ALL.... She leaked right through them every single time! The only ones that my daughter can use are Huggies or Luvs!

Wipes you can buy, but I would highly suggest buying the small packs in the beginning to figure out which you like best. I like the BJ's brand but find that they dry out way too fast for us. I didn't like the Pampers wipes b/c I feel that they didn't *grab* everything. I just bought a box of Luvs wipes to try out. The Huggies wipes have worked best for us overall.

Then, once you figure out the ones that you like best, you can put the colossal boxes on your registry!

Re: Are you buying diapers now?

I only bought a two newborn boxes from bjs.. just b/c I dont know what diapers will work best for this baby. With my dd I had gotten some huggies from baby shower and ended up leaking alot, ended up being a waste.. I could only exchange the unopen box.

Re: Are you buying diapers now?

I'd wait. Personally, I didn't get a single diaper at my shower Chat Icon The hospital didn't send me home with any either, so I wouldn't count on that necessarily.

I held off because I wanted to try different kinds to see which ones I would like, but I also knew my DS was a big baby and didn't know if I would need NB size diapers. I only bought a smallish pack of size 1 swaddlers and was glad I did since DS started out in size 1 - we never would have used the NB size.

I haven't bought any. I received 3 diaper cakes and two boxes from Mom at my shower.
