Are those baby floaties safe?

I can't wait for summer to get here! I want to get one of those baby floaty things.

Are they safe? Which one do you have?

why wouldn't they be safe? Chat Icon

you're not leaving the baby alone in them, you'll be with her the ENTIRE time making sure she doesn't go under, etc. nothing is safe if you leave the baby unsupervised.

Re: Are those baby floaties safe?

They are usually safe as long as you are by your baby's side. Not 5 feet away or unsupervised. You can NEVER guarantee that something will be 100% safe. Things happen! A wave of someone jumping in a pool, a valve failure, baby making a funny move. You have to be next to your baby or holding the float at all time.

Re: Are those baby floaties safe?

There are flotation devices that are coast guard approved and maybe some that other organizations approve. They have some for children and babies. I don't think that the arm floaties are approved because, according to my DH who has been around boats a lot, the device has to hold the head up facing up in order to be approved. We bought something that will help him float in a swimming pool but I'm not looking to rely solely on that. I'm not sure if we plan to take him on a boat but if we do, we will get something CG approved. He'll be going on a ferry but they have what he needs.
