blood pressure wise 130/78
128/74 120/82 129/75


ob told me they are borderline high..

thoughts?

also told me my 24 hour urine was within limits but high end of normal..i asked what that meant and docs office said they would rather not explain it bc i will google and get concerned.

To me, those BP's are fine. I thought I was always told that is the bottom number is above 80, its the starting of boarderline high.

Oh- and what's up with the dr's office saying they don't want to explain something to you? That's not cool!

anything over 120 on top and 80 on bottom is higher than normal, but not too worrisome if not over 130...I'd say if its over 130 thats when it starts to be "high"

my husband has BP issues, so I'm getting used to the numbers to worry about, his are always up higher by like 150 on top, and 90-100 on bottom...so his is DEFINITELY HIGH

I wouldn't worry about your bottom number, but your top when it hits those 130's might be what they're looking at

120/80 is the higher end of normal. 130/90 is considered high. SO it looks like there were times when your numbers were right on the borderline and that might be what they are concerned about. It is definately something worth watching since it usually goes up towards the end of the pregnancy!

My BP is normally 80/60 or 90/55, so those numbers would be really high for me. So it could def be high if you have low blood pressure.

Normal readings for me are 100/60-110/70...so yours would probably be a high reading for me also. I think it does have a lot to do with what is "normal" for you also.

as someone who had pre-e and was in the hospital for it, as a standard high was considered anything 140/90 or higher. when i was hospitalized they noted that my BP was not in the pre-e range although all of my other symptoms were there. they took my blood pressure every 3 hours day and night so they actually do note when it was trending higher.

if the doctor is saying its high for you it just might be trending higher than your previous BPs. but that doesn't mean you have pre-e. i had significant urine in my 24 hour that put me on hospital bed rest at 32w. fm if you want more info!! good luck!

I am on blood pressure medication for pregnancy induced hypertension. Trust me, those numbers are NOT high.

My OB said that anything over 140/90 would be high for me, and I've been over those numbers consistently - hence the meds. Even with the meds, I can be pretty ok, but I still have my high bouts. I am being watched weekly now with NST and biophysical profiles of the baby (I am 32 weeks).

From what I was told it's the bottom number that is most important. My doctor told me this and my best friend is a PA and she said the same thing. When I was in the doctor's office and was first diagnosed with high bp my reading was 138/110. It came down while I was in the office, if it hadn't doctor said I was on my way directly to the hospital. Since that day I've had readings at appointments that were in the 130/80 range and he said he is happy with that. Apparently when you have high bp during pregnancy it can also cause problems to lower it too much. My doctor explained to me that basically the baby is used to the pressure being higher so if you bring it to low it can cause issues. I dont' exactly know what but I remember him saying something about flow through the placenta.

So after all that I would say your readings seem ok. If you're really concerned I would call the doctor in the morning just to verify.

Those numbers sound borderline high to me, like on the higher end of normal. I'm sure they will just continue to monitor you to see if they go up.

For me, those would be high... but I've had low/borderline low BP all my life.

My normal BP is about 110/60. It's def true that everyone has a different "normal" range for themselves.

Anything 130/80 and above is considered high, but I do believe the concerning point is 140/90 (don't quote me on that).

When I was admitted with pre-e, I had already had positive protein +3 in my urine collection (at the office and in my 24 hour urine collection) and I was very swollen. When I went to the hospital, my BP was 145/94 and wouldn't go down. Within hours it was 185/90something. Within 24 hours it was 220/140 and an emergency c/s was called. I had never had high BP before in my life. So it can happen quickly. If you don't feel well, call the doctor. Do not go by the advice of any other person or their experience, just call the doctor and see what they say. If you develop a headache or see floaters in your eyes (spots), call right away. Those are signs of high BP.

Otherwise, just keep with your follow up appointments and they will keep checking your BP.

For me, at my Monday 31 week appointment, I showed protein in my urine and lots of swelling. By Friday I was admitted with pre-e and they had warned me twice that week that I was developing it and to plan for an early delivery. I just had NO idea it would be that early (31w6d). Thankfully my DS was born tiny but otherwise very healthy. Just take it easy and follow doctor's orders.
