Are there any positives to using frozen breastmilk?
I mean, other than the 2 obvious ones...the fact that it's breastmilk, and the fact that it's free
Does it retain any of its antibodies, immune support, etc. after it's frozen?
Just curious.

from what i understand as long as its defrosted before 2 months i thought (maybe 3, its been awhile) it has the same exact properties are when pumped. DEFINATELY use it if you have it!

Oh, I am definitely going to use it, I was just curious if it maintained any of those properties.
I have my milk in deep freeze, and the milk we are working on currently is 4 months old. Hopefully it's not watching the clock

At one point I had SO much milk pumped that I had milk in everyone's freezer in my family So use it up! I think if it's frozen solid it's good with all the good stuff for 6 months. But definitely don't quote me on that one!

I dont think its the frozen part that kills the nutrients. I think when its warmed - it loses a LITTLE bit of its goodness.

Re: Are there any positives to using frozen breastmilk?
My understanding is that it does lose some of the benefits when frozen but it certainly does not lose all of them. Also, because your body responds to your child's particular nutritional needs at a given time, I always wondered if the frozen breastmilk would not have the same exact fit to the child that fresh breast milk has.
I had to throw away frozen breastmilk when a doctor dertermined that my baby reacted to a heart medication I was taking. The medication is considered very safe for breastfeeding but my baby was in the small percent that react. This taught me that not everything is black and white when it comes to breastfeeding and that each person (and/or doctor) has to make an individual determination as to what will work.
