Are the gas lines getting better?

Just wondering if the lines are getting better with the new odd-even gas system???

Re: Are the gas lines getting better?

Went looking for gas yesterday around my neighborhood (Holbrook). Five gas stations, four had no gas and one did. The one that did had about a 20 to 30 minute wait.

This morning went looking for gas on the way to work. Pulled into the Hess station in Southampton and pulled straight up to the pump. No line at all. I think it might just depend on where you live.

I don't need gas even though I can go today. But I passes 4 stations with gas and there were no lines. They even had open pumps. Could pull right up if you wanted.

Re: Are the gas lines getting better?

I'm in Whitestone, the one gas station that has a delivery every day currently has over a 3 hour wait.

Then again, the tanker hasn't gotten there yet..and they aren't sure when he is. I just don't htink it will be any better, there are still so many people on line, it goes down 6 blocks.

My DH was waiting on line since 5:00 am. He was about 6 cars ifrom the tanks and he had to get off the line 20 minutes ago because he had to get to work. He took the Express bus in again.

My cousin posted on FB that she pulled right up to the pump this morning in Islip Terrace.

Yesterday, I only waited 10 minutes on line in Farmingdale for gas. I think out by me at least, it's getting much better.

i unfortunately am still struggling with finding an open gas station! i am in queens and work in he bronx and there was only 1 station open today (i pass about 20 on my way to work)...the line was definitely shorter than it was all week, but i would still say a 45 minute wait.

i heard yesterday that only 25% of NYC gas stations are open with gas...this is a huge part of problem and why the gas lines are so long! we need to get more stations open.
plus i get to a station and they tell me its a $40 or $50 limit...well of course that is why people are "panic buying"...they cant wait til they get on empty bc they wont be able to full up their tank completely.

i hope there is an end in site, but i read somewhere they anticipate this lasting a couple of weeks

I don't see lines because I don't see any station WITH gas to form lines for!

Wait, actually I did see one line, about 20 cars waiting for a station that didn't even have gas to open.

Pulled right in, waited for the person to pull out that was at the pump in front of me and done in less than 5 minutes!

No lines.

YAY for ODD/EVEN rationing!!!

ETA- a lot more stations were coming up as having fuel on gas buddy this morning too.
Like double from yesterday

Not where I am. All the lines at the stations that do have gas are ridiculous! I almost feel that some people with odd plates are getting on line just because they can and not necessarily that they need gas at the moment.

I also saw a few "even" plates on the line. I would like to hope that they are people who really had no idea it started today. If not, I hope they enforce it at the stations.

from what i noticed on my way to work this morning, there are still pretty long lines at the gas stations that were open.. but i actually passed a gas station that just had a tanker come to deliver gas, and there were maybe 6 cars there at the time, but i have an even plate so i couldn't stop to get any.

Re: Are the gas lines getting better?

We have no power since Wednesday w the new storm so we are back on a borrowed generator & I need to fill the 1 and only gas can every day now. I am super grateful to have a generator to borrow but it's stressful to have to get gas because I can’t buy another gas can anywhere.

I passed 12 gas stations on my way to work. Only 3 of 12 had gas. Two of the 3 with gas had HUGE lines. The 3rd had maybe 5 cars & I waited in line & saw the attendant make the guy behind me who was a ‘2’ leave. When I got to the pump & said “Just can for generator” he told me I didn’t have to wait in the line next time, which I thought was nice of him!

A lot of the stations got gas early this AM.
I didn't even have to wait.

Re: Are the gas lines getting better?

I was going to wait until Sunday to get gas (I'm an odd)..but on my way to work a gas station was open, and I pulled right into the pump. HOWEVER, the price was a bit high, somewhat typical of this station. For that moment though, I was just happy I wont have to worry about it for another week.

Since you are in Whitestone, if you have enough gas to get over the bridge tonight, you might want to try the Bronx or lower Westchester. Lines are much better there. The Bronx has the alternate days restriction, Westchester doesn't.
