Are people really out shopping??
I just saw on Facebook smith haven mall announced they are still open regular hours!? Are people really going to the mall right now??

People are assholes.
Shop online. That is what I am doing today in between working.
Shop on fuking line.
It's the internet- it's a great invention.

you're an ass if you're out in this. you are also risking the lives of the police that now have to go save you. stay home. people are beyond stupid.

I assume it is also a notice for the employees. The mall might be open but that doesn't mean the store will be. I worked in a mall and the stores then make decisions if the mall itself is open.

I think they get fined if the mall is open but they don't open? That was always what I was told when I was younger and worked in the mall.

THIS. People are stupid and very self absorbed. If I see one more "I am allowed to be on the roads" or "My truck can handle it" I am going to scream. They are completely missing the point that being on the roads is making things more dangerous for emergency responders who don't have a choice on a day like today.

I think Simon is making them stay open. I heard other simon malls on Long Island are open as well. It's really ludicrous. There's a car ban in the town of Brookhaven where if you're a non-emergency vehicle on the road and you're caught, you can be charged with a misdemeanor.
Just saw that they're open but if a store chooses to remain closed, they won't be fined.

Honestly only essential services should be allowed to be open on a day like today.
Non essential businesses like retail should be fined for opening.
It's dangerous

Walt Whitman mall posted they are open too and a bunch of store managers commented that their stores will be closed. I remember when I was an assistant manager at G&G when I was younger and my dad had to drive me to work in weather just like this because to open the store because the mgr told me if I didn't come in the fine would come out of my check. I'm glad store mgrs have common sense to actually close now!

stores know people will always go out in any weather, so it forces them to stay open and people have to work
