appointment/sono schedule 1st tri

my doctor's office has newly pregnant women come in 6w or after. but i also just found out they want to see you 4 weeks after that. so i will be seen again around 10w. i guess i didn't expect anything between the initial confirmation appointment (with a transvag u/s) and the 12w sono with the NT scan, whatever it's all called...i'm new at this

is it normal to be seen at 6 weeks and again at 10 weeks? and my doc said she would want to check growth again at 10w, which means another u/s. my dr did say if i wanted i could opt out of sonos until my 20w if i want. i don't know yet where i stand on the frequency of sonos and what i'd like to do - but i feel like a 6w, 10w, 12w seems a bit much, right?

i know there are lots of opinions on here ranging from "see your baby as often as you can" to "less is more", but please share what your offices have done for the 1st trimester appointment schedule. thx!

For the first few months most OB's see you every four weeks after your initial visit.

My OB only does sonos at the initial appt, 20 weeks and a growth sono at around 37 weeks. The 12 week NT scan is optional and we opt out of that.

If there is a reason why they want to do another sono I would trust the doctor. But certainly express your concerns if it's an issue for you. If they are just doing it for the sake of doing it by all means tell them you'd rather not. DH feels strongly about avoiding sonos unless necessary so I get it.

I wouldn't want a 10w u/s if I had to go at 12w for NT scan. It just seems like a lot of doctor visits. Unless of course there was a previous issue or something they were watching

Im low risk and i see a few doctors in my practice. I had a 6 wk sono, 8 wk sono, 10 wk sono and will be having a 12 wk NT scan.
Normally i would never get a 10 wk sono but the new doctor in the practice wanted to make sure things were growing fine.
I don't think multiple sonos can do harm to you or baby-IMO. The doctors wouldn't put you at risk if they thought it was dangerous.

If you are uncomfortable with the sono, then by all means express that to your doctor. You could also try to make your first appt for closer to 7 weeks and then just go an extra week in between to get you to 12 weeks and only 2 appts.

This time around I was seen by my RE at 5,6, and 7 weeks. All with sonos. I went to my OB at 8 weeks and then again at 12.

Last time around I believe I went to the OB at 8 weeks and 12 weeks.
