Anyone suffer bad menstrual pain
I will start by saying that I plan on speaking to my gyn. But I'm looking for feedback, does anyone suffer severe cramping and sharp pains during your period? My first day is especially bad with heavy bleeding too. The pains will stop me in my tracks.

Anyone suffer bad menstrual pain
I have, I get so bloated as well, it feels like my insides are being torn out. At times I also have cramping after my period for a few days. I always have to take something, advil etc and I normally have a high tolerance for pain

Yes that sounds like me. I thought it would get better after childbirth ?? I wasn't sure if that kind of pain was common or not. I literally spent the day in bed and that's not easy with kids around

Anyone suffer bad menstrual pain
I suffer from an extremely heavy flow where I must always be on birth control, bad enough where I can't leave the house if I wasn't on BC and get my period. At times I get sharp pains not really inside but more towards the outer area. My gyn did a slew of tests and found nothing abnormal, can't explain why my body acts the way it does.
Some months the first day or two I pop Advil every 6 hours or so to stop the pain, but I've noticed I haven't had to do it in a while so I'm happy about that.

I have a fibroid but had the cramping long before I developed one.

I do too. When I was younger I would throw up from the pain. BC helped, but when I wasn't on BC the second I knew my period was coming I had to take midol. If I waited as much as an hour I was screwed! Sucks!

This is basically me. I finally found out at 28 that I had endo. Being on the pill helps so much!

Anyone suffer bad menstrual pain
Me! I have severe endo though. I was on the pill forever and when I went off the pain got worse and worse every month. I originally went on bc because I had cysts here and there. The pain I get is horrendous...if you are done having kids or taking a break I highly reccommend bc pills. Endo can only be diasnosed with surgery

Yep, this is me word for word! The first day of my period I feel like someone is in there stabbing my uterus with a machete, lol! Just went to my gyn a couple of weeks ago, he wrote me a script for the pill, said it will solve it. I know he's right, when I was on the pill I never had cramps and a nice light 2 day period. But I just don't think I want to start the pill again.

I do, although it's been better after giving birth. I had a drug free birth, and up until the very end it just felt like my normal monthly period-that's how bad they were. For awhile I took naproxen, but I hate taking strong medicine. I was also on the pill for a long time to try to help but it had more negatives than positives for me

Re: Anyone suffer bad menstrual pain
aside from the obvious and seeing your GYN which you said you are doing, i highly highly recommend finding a naturopathic dr.
going on BC is a quick fix, but there are probably underlying hormonal issues that are causing it (outside of it being anything like endo, fibroids, etc).
I've been working with one for over a year now b/c I had MRSA for one thing, that would break out 3-4 days before my cycle started; I also had terrible PMS symptoms. naturopathic dr's will explore the root cause of your problem, not just mask it with treating symptoms.
naturopathic.org you can find dr's in your area.

YES! Horrible! Worse after my dd. I never had it this bad before. And I get horrible horrible fatigue about 1 week before my actual period. Like can barely get out of bed in the morning. My body just feels exhausted. Its HORRIBLE.
I usually take some advil a hot shower and dress comfortable. Nothing tight. Its usually just the 1st day that's horrible.
I want to talk to my ob about it but I do not want to start with medication. I am uptight about constant prescribed meds. I take advil in protest but its unbearable.

this is me, but the first 3 days (with the third being the worst) are horrible. I start out my morning by taking two aleves the second i wake up. That usually helps. I also find myself sleeping 14-16 hours a few days before because i am that tired. Some months are fine, but others, i'm just barely functional.

Re: Anyone suffer bad menstrual pain
I get REALLY intense cramping the first day of my period, it's so bad I don't even feel like moving. I usually take 3 Advil every few hours for the first day and it keeps the intense pain away so I can function. After the first day, sometimes two on occasion, I don't have any more issues but CD1 is brutal.

Re: Anyone suffer bad menstrual pain
I do but I KNOW I have endometriosis. It's gets worse and worse as the months pass
Day 1 is the worst with pain - I take Percocet. It's the only thing that helps. And it doesn't even make it go away. It just dulls it enough so I can function. Day 2 is heavy flow. Go thru super tampon every 1.5 hrs. Cramping isn't terrible. Heating pad and some Tylenol usually work.
But then by day 3, it's very light and day 4 gone.
I hate it completely and look forward to menopause
I used to be on the pill a long time ago. And strongly considered going back on, but bc of other medical issues, it's not a good idea now

Re: Anyone suffer bad menstrual pain
I was diagnosed with endometriosis in August of 2012 -- I was having difficulty conceiving and they did an exam and found a lime-sized cyst on my ovary that was causing me to have difficulty getting pregnant. Before that, I always just thought I get very bad periods - extreme pain, heavy flow. I have a high tolerance so I $ucked it up.
Anyway, once my doc found the cyst he went in through my belly button and removed it. At that point, he examined me and diagnosed me with endo. I went immediately to do acupuncture and found that it helped tremendously. Between the cyst being removed and doing acupuncture I was able to get pregnant within three months after trying for almost two years.
Since then, I continue to see my acupuncturist -- the pregnancy helped a lot with the endo and I have not had a cyst since. I am on BC and that helps a lot with regulating my period and the pain. But, more than anything, the acupuncture is a Godsend. I feel that has helped me function during my period and it's a night/day difference.
I can recommend someone in Bay Shore otherwise you can go to any licensed acupuncturist and they can treat extreme period discomfort/pain.

Re: Anyone suffer bad menstrual pain
Have you tried Midol Extended Relief? I think it's called Menstridol now.
It doesn't kill my cramps entirely, but it's the best OTC one I've found.

I don't get cramps during my period, well not anything bad....but I DO get horrendous cramping during ovulation! It's actually getting worse, and I think there is a cyst on my left one, so I'm going to the gyno soon
