Anyone prefer a town with more privacy and less community/small town feel?

Just wondering how many people fall into this category and do not like a small town feel or community feel?

I feel like that. I wouldn't feel comfortable being the "new" one where groups have already been formed , things like that. I pefer a larger more anonymous neihborhood where I can become friendly with people bc we click not because the people are so close knit that they have to know everyone KWIM?

I'm from Queens so that could be why I feel this way?

It depends...I'd like a town where I could walk to the deli, or to get ice cream, or maybe a nearby CVS/grocery store to run some quick errands.

But I wouldn't like a town where everyone is in my business. I don't want to grab lunch with my brother one afternoon and then hear that everyone in town thinks I'm having an affair...

I am not into the small town feel. I live in Bellmore, which is convenient to everything, and has a cute little downtown area, but where I can be fairly anonymous if I want to be. I have lots of friends who live in the neighboring towns, but I have no desire to live in an area where everyone knows about what's going on with everyone else.

While I love Great Neck and know a lot of ppl there, I dont' know how much I would love living there...bc everyone would be in my business. Most of my parents friends moved from Mill Basin to Great Neck and now a lot of their kids live in Mill Basin, and while they love the community feel (esp for Brooklyn), a lot of them complain about all the gossipping and rumors and everyone knowing what everyone else is doing..My mouth is too big, I would never be able to bite my tongue and would hate it...
