Anyone on here w/ PCOS do WW?
I took my mom w/ me today down to one of the weight watchers centers, about 20 mins from my house. We had just waited almost 3 hours so she could see a specialist because of how sick she was while she was on vacation. She has to have a colonoscopy and an upper endoscopy done in a couple of weeks to find out what's going on... while we were sitting there I took a good look at her and realized how tired and worn she looks.... she's starting to look 'old' to me (and she's not really). We'd been considering doing WW together for a while, but neither one of us motivated the other one enough to get off our butts and sign up... They had already closed for the day but were nice enough to let us come in and get some literature. I did WW a few years ago, and stopped losing weight after about 18 lbs, which the woman in charge said was b/c of my PCOS... but the instructor today didn't seem to think that was the case Sorry for the long post--- so do any of you do WW? If so, how are you doing on it?

Re: Anyone on here w/ PCOS do WW?
I have PCOS and honestly, it works but not great.
Example - 1 cup of grapes or watermelon is 1 point. Great......but the problem is they're really high on the glycemic index so obviously with PCOS we're not "processing" the sugars the same as a non-pcos person.
I found that going to the gym, hiring a trainer and really being concious of what I was eating worked better than WW.

I don't have PCOS, but I believe that most will do better with a low carb type diet

I did it for a little while, this was way before I knew I had PCOS. It did work for me, but I felt it wasn't worth the money because they really just taught you about portion control and the right things to eat.

I saw a nutritionist that specialized in PCOS. She was in my doctor's office. She put me on a modified South Beach Diet! Worked awesome!!!!!!!! I plan on going back on it after I stop breastfeeding. I'd suggest trying to find a nutritionist to help you both make smart decisions.

Me, and I started WW in January, by the time I had my transfer in March, I was down 15lbs. I think the combination of the Metformin, excericise really helped. I've been really lax since my m/c (I went through an I don't care phase, that I'm still trying to get out of it), but I'm still down 17lbs from when I started.

I've lost about 20lbs in 14 weeks on WW.
I do better and feel better when I eat fewer carbs while on the program. The program is open, it's up to you to decide what to eat.
ETA: I also started taking metformin and synthroid a few weeks after starting WW.

I am trying to drop weight also and I am doing a low carb diet. I think that is the best for PCOS.
