anyone have their OWN sleep issues since baby??
Before baby it always took me at least an hour to fall asleep but then I could sleep 10 hours easily lol my issue now is when I do get a break when dh takes over I cannnnnnot fall asleep. Let's say I have a 5 hour stretch I sleep maybe 2 of those hours. I toss turn etc. Its like I can't shut off even though I am beyond sleep deprived. I have tried showers baths tylenol pm xanax beer wine etc lol (not all at the same time though haha) I just added ear plugs so if the baby is crying or should I say screaming it muffles it out. I have ac on door closed and black out blinds. Now let's say I sleep two hours and my shift so to speak starts I can flop on the couch next to sleeping baby and just conk out. Wtf! Lol. So anyone else have this problem????? What to dooooo????

I think its just your nerves of not being with the baby KWIM? like, for me...when I go out to run errands and leave baby with DH I become a worrier..maybe you cant sleep because you think DH may not be able to handle the baby? I take care of my baby from day 1 (with the night shifts) so I cant relate in the sleep dept. but I thiink with you its just nervousness

Melatonin- 3mg Worked like a charm for me.
You can get in the vitamin aisle of any store.
It kind of like turns your brain off- naturally!

Re: anyone have their OWN sleep issues since baby??
I had this issue when both of my sons were newborns. For some reason, I could not settle down and sleep. maybe it was the knowledge that I could be woken up at any time, I just could not relax.
Once they were STTN, this gradually went away. Someone once told me that once you have kids, you never sleep deeply again. Well, my kids are 2 and 4 years old now, and I sleep like a log every night (unless one of them is sick or has a nightmare).

I totally understand not being able to sleep when the baby isn't near you. Whenever I put DD in the crib in her room instead of the bassinet I toss and turn forever. If she's next to me in the bassinet I'm out in no time.

Re: anyone have their OWN sleep issues since baby??
It took me months to be able to fall into a deep sleep at night. I was so afraid I would be zonked and not hear the baby cry, etc. Once she was STTN it got much easier. But I do remember being able to very easily fall asleep on the couch if I just sat down for 5 mins when I was home on maternity leave LOL.
