Anyone have their nose pierced?

I want the real-deal nitty gritty of it....all of it...don't hold back!

- How do you blow your nose?
- Any complications?
- How to maintain, etc???
etc...

It's my newest obsession....thinking about it!

I used to have one, the hole is still open I just don't wear it.
You do have to be a little more careful when blowing your nose- you can get boogies and tissue stuck on it.
It didin't hurt much to do it, I've had several piercings and I still the think the ears were the most painful.

ETA: i hate it when people call it a nose-earring. DUH

Re: Anyone have their nose pierced?

I had one for a while and LOVED it.

Didn't hurt bad at all and I had it done with a needle/rod thing not a gun.

I did have a keloid (sp) develop which was a complication. I had to do a compress of warm water with salt for a few weeks for it to go down, annoying but not bad.

Only things to watch out for and be careful with:

-washing your face, I use a wash cloth and had to be extra careful around the area.

- getting out of the shower an rubbing your face with your towel, you'll learn real fast not to make that mistake again.

-nose blowing, again, carry a mirror with you to be careful and see what you are doing in the area.

I got really lucky that when I did take mine out (work) I didn't have a scar from the closing.

Have fun!!! Chat Icon

Re: Anyone have their nose pierced?

I have one! It did hurt and it did bleed but only after the the needle went through. Then it stopped.
It was just the initial stick through the nose that hurt, then it fades and was fine. It was a little sensitive for a week or two but totally fine after that. I couldn't sleep on that side since it was a bit sore but again, after a week or two it was fine. I LOVE it and would do it again in a second! I've have it for about 2 1/2 years now.
I wear a little stud in it Chat Icon

Re: Anyone have their nose pierced?

Thanks ladies....I'm pretty much sold on it...

I want to get a stud...is it best to get one without the prongs to avoid the towel situation? LOL

Re: Anyone have their nose pierced?

I could be wrong, but if you get pierced with a needle you have to start your piercing with a ring and then you can switch to a stud after a while.

As for the towel, it was more you hitting the piercing and pulling it out than the towel getting caught on the prongs. I think my stud may have been a little too big though, I had it knocked out of my nose a couple of times when I was, um, busy...Chat Icon

Re: Anyone have their nose pierced?

There are some tattoo places that will only pierce with a ring. So if you want a stud, make sure they do it. Tattoo Lous in Huntington I know does it with a stud and Station 1 does it with a tattoo

Re: Anyone have their nose pierced?

Oh no...I def. cannot wear a ring....have to get a stud...

I'm in NYC, so I'm sure I can find a place that will do it with a stud.

no. I had a stud... never used a ring. I used to put a backing on it so it wouldnt fall out.

I have one! Chat Icon Chat Icon I have a very small stud - some people don't even notice it (did you notice it at TWOTY?).

I had it done in NYC at St. Mark's Place with a needle (I DO NOT recommend doing it with the gun, you can damage the cartiledge and/or get a bump, etc. - doesn't happen to everyone, but the impact of the gun makes it much more likely).

As much as I thought it was going to hurt and the piercing dude was telling me that it was NOT going to hurt, I was really surprised that he was right. It didn't hurt! And I'm normally not good with things like that at all!

I had a stud put in right away - my mistake was that I went with a sterling silver stud and I later found out that it's NOT recommended for new piercings - mine was irritated and slightly infected for crazy long after I had it done and when I finally switched the stud, the piercing hole was black! I now wear a white gold stud with a tiny diamond in it and my piercing hole is normal etc.

Good luck! I got mine done 7 years ago (wow, almost 8!) and I have yet to regret it. And I work in a corporate environment!!! Some people didn't notice I had it done for YEARS Chat Icon

I used to have one - and my stepdaughter has one now...

I used to take mine out - i never had the backing on it when I had to blow my nose...

If I had a ring, I would just stick an alcohol swab in there after and clean it off!!

Yeah, when I walked in the place that was the first thing I asked. I was only doing it if I could get a stud
