Anyone Get Pregnant Without Trying?
I am a regular poster with two kids and am planning on remaining anonymous for now. I took a pregnancy test last night and it came out positive (and one this morning) after my period has been late. What I don't get is that I was sick this month and we didn't have sex during my "fertile period" at all and all other times we had sex with a condom. My DH does not remember anything wrong with the condoms, so while we are feeling blessed, I just don't understand how it can be. I am going to go to the doctor to ask for a blood test just to make sure, but I was just wondering if anything like this happened to anyone. I am not on birth control.

This didn't happen to me, but we did get pregnant on the very FIRST try...sometimes when your fertile your fertile!!! Condoms are only 98% effective, so congrats on being the 2%!

Yea we were FAR from trying to get pregnant but it just happened...
I calculated my "fertile days" wrong or something.. I think I had an extra long cycle that month. Plus we were only using condoms (not 100%).

Yep! I had a "chemical pregnancy" back in December. We weren't trying, but we were still sad that it happened like that. Then the very next month we got another huge surprise, a BFP!!! That was 2 whammies in a row. Now, at almost 16 wks, we're still kind of like, "Wait- what happened? What did we do?" 
ETA: Wanted to add that while we weren't actively trying, we weren't using birth control either.

Hey it happens all the time......maybe you miscalculated your fertile period? Maybe the condom had a micro hole???? who knows....

It happened to us...I feel EXTREMELY blessed because we went through IF treatments to conceive our DD, and I was told that I don't ovulate on my own.
Turns out I do sometimes  apparently.
While we feel very lucky and we know this baby is a miracle, it was 100% the LAST thing on our minds. We never planned on having our kids so close in age.
Congrats to you!!! It'll take some time to sink in, I'm sure, but everything will be ok!!!

Both times were big surprises, and not even trying.
Congrats!!
ETA: We were not on BC - I was just keeping track of my "fertile times" and period. Apparently I was a little off.

YEP. We were NOT trying. I was very on top of my cycle - although I wasn't temping like I had in the past. I was very regular, I felt like I knew exactly what was going on. We either conceived on Day 6 of my cycle, or the condom broke later in my cycle.
Like someone else said - when you're fertile, you're fertile!
We were planning on TTC in about a year. We were shocked initially, and feeling really stressed because financially this is not at all in our plans and we weren't sure how we were going to do it - but we have figured things out and are so happy and excited now (I'm about 15 weeks). I feel like we are so blessed.

Not trying here either, I conceived DD the day after my period...I guess I kind of knew that that could happen...but I thought it was a one in a million kind of thing

We did. DD was 3 months old when I got pregnant this time around. We weren't taking any sort of preventative measures other than using a condom "sometimes" so I guess in the back of my mind I knew it was a good possibility that I could become pregnant again... and we did! LOL

Same thing happened to me with DS lol. Got engaged Feb. 08 and preggo May 08.

I would imagine it can happen- even with a condom. There might have been a small defect in it, etc.
That is why no birth control is considered 100% effective.
It scares me a bit to be honest- and is why I'm considering some more permanent solutions after the baby comes....

A co-worker is pregnant. They concieved while she was taking bc, the mini-pill.

The same thing happened to my co-worker. Apparently the mini-pill is not a very reliable form of BC.
