anyone fill in a pool recently?

I just got a quote for $6000 to repair the concrete around my pool.

DH and I HATE the pool so at that cost it may be worth just getting rid of it

How much did you pay to fill it? Were you happy with who you used? Any negatives?

I just filled my pool in last month. You have to make sure that they do it the right way. It cost $4000. They have to remove everything and properly dispose of it. You then need them to fill the pool and use a big tractor to press it down every foot.

It was an inground vinyl pool. They also removed the mechanics of the pool. I filled in the pool very quickly after buying the house and never got the permit. It is on my to do list this summer. You have to complete a demolition permit, provide a copy of the survey, give a letter from an electrician saying that it was disconnected properly, and give some certificates of insurance. I got lucky because I didn't have to pay for the fill because someone across the street is building a new house and had extra fill we could use.
