Anyone ever park at MacArthur airport?
We're planning a trip and I'd love to just park the car there while we're gone. Not sure about the pricing and safety though.
Anyone ever done this? Is it a hassle, not worth it, or a good thing?

yes, we've done it.
it wasn't bad or that expensive although I can't recall how much it was per day.
we had no problem re: safety- and the lot is fenced in.. you can also walk from the lot to the airport- you dont' have to take a shuttle like at the bigger airports- which is super annoying.

I have, they have an economy lot that is further away (still walkable distance from the terminal), and 1/2 the price of the other lot. There is a sign for it when you enter the airport lot.

we did it once, it was very convenient. however the prices went up alot last year. If you live in the Town of Islip and you are a resident and have a sticker for your car, there is a parking lot for you for free.
It ended up being cheaper for us to take a cab back and forth than to spend the money to park for 9 days.
You can check the website for the airport to see the fees and determine what is less expensive for you.

I have people drop me off. The car is fenced in but it's not secure enough for me. I would rather have my car locked in my garage. It is pretty cheap. The long term lot is about 12 a day I think if I remember correctly. We are going to FL at the end of the month and my mom is dropping us off.

$14. for the regular lot per day, $12.50 for the economy that has the shuttle every 5/10 minutes. For a 6 day trip, that's either $84 or $75.
I'd think for a shuttle, both ways, with tip, it would probably be just as expensive...
It would be a Godsend if my car got stolen at this point.

We parked there as Islip residents, so it was free (you do have to buy a Islip town pass), and no problem or issue with the car. The resident lot was actually really close to the entry doors.

Same here. I've left my car for a week at a time several times, and never had an issue. They have security patrolling the lots.
I usually have friends and family park their cars at my house, and I (or DW) drop them off at the airport, so they don't have to pay for the parking.

I had a car like that once... I ran into a store and left it running. Some guy was like "oh be careful - it could get stolen" and I replied, "I would feel SO bad for that poor criminal!" Sometimes, I wanted to just leave the windows down, keys on the dashboard with a note stating: Do me a favor!!!

I've parked there many many times. never had any issues. it's so convenient, and reasonable! years ago it was only $8 a day! I think now it's $12, still a good price IMO.
