Anyone ever consider GIFT or ZIFT?
So, I'm coming off a failed FET and all my embryos are gone. I did a fresh cycle in 2009 and had 13 fertilized, all of which made it to day 3. I had 4 embryos make it to freeze and had one baby. This cycle we thawed all 4, 2 made it and no baby. I'm just having a really hard time wrapping my head around how 13 embryos can only result in one pregnancy!
I'm starting to feel like those embies didn't have much of a chance given the IVF circumstances. I just am having a hard time believing that all 13 would not have made it if they were created inside me.
I was looking into GIFT and it seems really interesting. Basically, you follow the same protocol as IVF but after they retrieve your eggs, they immediately combine them with DH's sperm and then surgically place them into your fallopian tube so fertilization occurs in there. The embryo will then follow the normal course of developing and impantation, etc. They typically put 4 eggs back, so chance of multiples are around 35%. The surgery is done laproscopicly (sp?), so more invasive than a transfer but it's one day and your done. The remaining eggs can be fertilized like IVF and frozen, or just feeze the eggs for later use.
Wondering if anyone ever thought about GIFT?
ZIFT is when they fertilize the eggs first and then surgically put them back in your tube the next day.

No, but during one of my million Google episodes this weekend.......I did come across an article that I read.
The doctor who wrote the article does recommend it and did say the PG rates were higher and more successful doing this than just IVF.

Crashing!
Not many MDs do this anymore. You will have to do research to find ones that do. Good luck!
