anyone else's baby NOT love cereal/solids?
Sophia isnt a fan -- anyone else in the same boat?
we've been trying for about 2-3 weeks, and Sophia really isnt thrilled with it at all.
at her last well visit the week before xmas (3+ months) the Ped said we should get her started with oatmeal. we tried, she HATED it! tried for a few more days, still HATED it. we took a break for 2 weeks.
started again about 10 days ago and she STILL doesnt like it. we tried carrots and squash (spaced them out for allergy testing) and still no go. shell put up with it, but usually just spits it back out. last night i went back to the oatmeal and she actually started to open her mouth for it. i feel like shes not really ingesting much at this point, so its kind of pointless.
any tips/pointers? people keep saying to offer fruit because she might enjoy it more, therefore enjoy the process BUT others say do fruit last or that's all theyll want.
HELP!

Bring her over, James will show her how it's done!
No real advice, though... maybe she's just not ready for it?

With that said, my DD was not the biggest lover of cereal and purees. We started on table foods at 9 months and since then, she is DONE with the baby food. I can't remember the last time I gave her any.

It sounds like she isn't ready for solids yet. Plenty of people don't start solids until 6 months. There's no reason to rush into it especially if she isn't taking well to it yet. I'd try again in another few weeks.

Re: anyone else's baby NOT love cereal/solids?
Mason HATED it. WE started at 4 months and he wanted NOTHING to do with it. Not a fan of food. THis kid just wants bottles only.
We figured he wasn't ready so tried again at 5 months and it was better. You have to wait for DC to be ready. Mason wasn't... He still hates certain foods, but very picky. He'll eat though. Not always everything and doesn't finish. I noticed he was ready when I was eating soup with a spoon and he was staring and reaching out.
The other day I was eating a carrot and he was staring and grabbing for it so I know he's sorta ready for more. I started the teething bisquit and he loved it

hahaha I was thinking of James as I wrote this! Im so jealous that he loves it!!! I hope he's feeling better, no more itchies!
I was thinking maybe she's just not ready, but she has met all the "signs" (head control, pushes up on arms, will move the food from front to back of mouth, etc). and the Ped suggested it bc shes a chunker and feels itll help satisfy her. She was also on cereal for soo long (in bottles for AF) so we know she can digest it well. I stopped a couple weeks ago because I thought maybe she wasnt ready.
I think she just wants to see her Mama frustrated
ETA: shes 4 months (well, will be on saturday)

Re: anyone else's baby NOT love cereal/solids?
We started DS on cereal at 4 months. I kept thinking he didn't know what do with the food but as soon as I introduced pears he went to town. I tried cereal after that and he refused to eat it. Ped said not to worry so I never gave him cereal after that.

At 4 months she may just not be ready. I didn't start my DD until 6 months, but she wasn't a fan even then. After several very frustrating attempts, I basically gave up for a bout 3 weeks. She was a little over 7 months when I started again. She still wasn't a huge fan, but she was definately better since she was a little older & a little more ready.
