Anyone else shy about what's coming?

Believe it or not, my OB has yet to see me naked. Chat Icon My exams and tests have been done by her assitants. At almost 38 weeks, I have gotten to know and like my OB.

Well, yesterday she told me she will be examining my cervix at my next visit and I'm so embarrased and shy thinking about laying in the exam room with my legs up and all my goodies hanging out!Chat Icon (hemmies anyone?)

Then fast forward to the impending delivery, a bunch of strangers staring into my (eyes?)Chat Icon cut to me breast feeding. It's like a bad dream.

I've read that you lose the shyness during but that's one big icebreaker coming! I don't even let my mom see me nekid!

I had to go through IF treatments for this baby, so I have had my lady parts seen by tons of doctors, nurses, etc.

Re: Anyone else shy about what's coming?

I have a 16 month old DS so I've BTDT and it's not horrible, weird at first, but not too traumatizing lol. At one of my internals, the dr asked if a resident could look too then they were discussing my business with each other, he was teaching her about stuff, but it was like I wasn't even in the room....so bizarre.

When I was in labor at the hospital, people just come in and open your gown and stuff. There were so many nurses and drs and residents looking at my business and changing the padding on the bed that I lost track of who they were and if a stranger perv-o came in claiming to be dr so and so or even if he didn't say a word and just took a peek, I wouldn't have known otherwise LOL.

I was induced. Our plan was for it to just be DH and I in the room, then I had the worst contractions in the world overnight when I was induced and DH called his mom for some support LOL. The plan was to kick her out before I started pushing, last thing I wanted was her to see me naked BUT when the time came to push, there were a few nurses, aides, a dr in the room that it was such chaos that we forgot to tell her to leave and she saw everything. I didn't care at that point.

I ended up having a c-section, afterwards some lady came in my room and kicked everyone out and without saying a word lifted up my gown, took a bunch of padding out, squirted me with water to clean me up and replaced with fresh padding, this happened I think 1 or 2 more times and then my first time having to go to the bathroom a nurse helped me go, yes I peed in front of the nurse as she helped me get my bloody padding off. That was my first time walking and getting up, after that DH helped me a few times then I did it on my own.

THEN when it comes to breastfeeding... This one nurse actually grabbed my boob and put it in DS's mouth...yup it was terrible. All the other times I was having trouble latching the nurses saw everything too and this one time I was trying the skin to skin contact with DS to help get nursing going so I had my top off with the curtain closed and my male ob came in to check on me and just opened the curtain and I was there topless. And one of the times I was learning to breastfeed with the nurse my MIL was in the room and she asked if she should leave and before I said anything DH goes, "well you've seen everything else" um thanks.

So, yes, everyone will see your business and it's weird but they are helping and/or just doing their job and have seen a million who-has and boobies, and gross messes that it's like nothing to them, weird to me, but nothing to them.

Re: Anyone else shy about what's coming?

The shyness will go out the window once the labor starts. I had more people poking and prodding me. And all I cared about was getting the baby out and having the contractions stop.

My labor was just the Drs and the nurse but then when I got moved over to the Csection OR I had students and just about the entire hospital there. It was the last thing on my mind.

Also my labor was a complete surprise so I was not groomed at all down there.

Same with me.
ETA: even the doctors "in training" that was embarrassing because they looked so young!

Re: Anyone else shy about what's coming?

I also went through IF treatments to get pregnant with DD so I lost alot of my modesty. But- when I was in labor and delivery, they asked if they could bring in ONE student and mid-push I looked up and saw an entire wall full of people just watching me with everything hanging out. Chat Icon Chat Icon Yeah- I didn't even care.

Ehh... it's not pretty down there, but OBs have seen it all. It's their JOB. It's not pretty on anyone at this stage.

As for the poop: thank god I don't have to deal with cleaning it!

I am SOOOO nervous about that!! Everyone seeing me naked and my boobs out for all to see! Then they are all around me as my baby is on my boob! YES! I am very shy about what's to come. I know everyone says it will not matter to me once that time comes but I am SURE that it will. LOL

I get very shy about it before and afterwards. But during labor...you won't care. You will just appreciate the help, kindness and caring of the nurses and your doc. Hang in there. xoxo :)

Re: Anyone else shy about what's coming?

I dont like it at all, but theres nothing I can do. Its uncomfortable for me but it is what it is. For the c/s I was NOT prepared for how out there my area was! Basically just laying on a table wearing a gown, but EVERYTHING down there was out! Drs, nurses walking in and out preparing for the surgery and I'm just laying there with the curtain up, completely numb. Once that happened, I was pretty much ok with everything else after that.

Omg! you guys just had me Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

As for the pooping, the lady on the lamaze DVD I rented suggested giving yourself an enema prior to prevent that. I bought a two pack..one for practice Chat Icon

DH is not allowed to look at my vaj while I'm pushing, we've only been married a little over a yr and don't want him traumatized!

He joked (I hope he was joking) about having his co-worker (who is a part-time EMT)in the labor room with us and I swear if he's there I'm gonna flip! I would much rather have strangers look at my vaj cause I will never see them again!

Re: Anyone else shy about what's coming?

i still hate being examined and still wonder if i look "normal" down there. the feeling has not gone away at all. even when the doc listens to the heartbeat and pulls my pants down a bit, i start blushing and try pulling them back up just a little bit.

i know everyone says that the feeling goes away once you're in delivery, but i just cant imagine that happening!

Re: Anyone else shy about what's coming?

I am definitely shy,but my mom says all modesty goes out the window when your in labor. My biggest fear is pooping or farting and it doesn't help that my DH keeps going you are bdefinitely going to sh*t yourself. Very supportive I know! HAHA
