ABC is airing a live feed and it's so weird to not have 100000 reporters analyzing every millisecond and just have the pictures speak for themselves.

I have been watching. When I saw the first man pulled out last night I was in tears. Praying that everyone comes out of this safely.

I heard the strongest are coming out first and the weakest are last. WHy is that?

The way I understand it is the first ones out will let them know the status of the men below. So after they are up the medically fragile ones that have some issues will go up next and the last will be the strongest that can stay
down and assist until they are up!

I was wondering the same thing and found this article online that gave this description...

"The rescue team has drawn up a provisional list of the order of the miners’ rescue, based on daily examinations of the men’s physical and mental health. First up will be the four of five judged capable of handling a frightening setback as the cage is pulled through the narrow pitch-black shaft.

The next phase would be the rescue of those who are ill or are judged physically or mentally weaker. Their numbers will include men with diabetes and high blood pressure, the oldest man in the group, Mario Gomez, 63, and 19-year-old Jimmy … who has often said how scared he is in letters to the surface.

Coming up last will be another group who are physically and mentally strong enough to wait their moment.

The names have not been revealed and the final order will be decided by the navy paramedics and rescue experts who will be lowered down into the mine to run the operation from below ground.

But many believe that the last man up will Luis Urzua, the shift supervisor and leader of “Los 33” who is widely credited with keeping the men alive ekeing out food rations during the first lost 17 days.

"It could be Urzua, but it's still not confirmed,” said Commander Renato Navarro, the navy officer running the rescue. “The concept of a captain being the last one to abandon ship could be applied.”

"
I thought it made sense after reading this.

Re: Anyone else obsessively following the Chilean miners?

Watched the first one come up and basically lost it. The little boy crying killed me. I am very happy they are being rescued finally and so happy for their family, but I simply can't watch, way too emotional for me.

Um, what about Yonni, the miner whose wife bumped into his MISTRESS at a vigil the first week of the disaster?

I've been following THAT for quite some time! She didn't come to the rescue. The mistress did.

YAY They are all out & Safe!!!

I'm glad CNN decided to have verbal diarrhea all over the conversation between the Foreman & The President... even though they were speaking in Spanish, it would've been nice to hear the conversation.
